I'm so confused about crafting. Been doing some quests in the shroud. For the most part, I just can't find a recipie book at all. I tried DDO wiki and the crafting page. I'm almost thinking of not doing it at all considering it is extremely hard.

There are no recipe books. You either have to find them out on your own or use a website resource.

is the best Ive seen so far.
I think I'm starting to understand it, but it seems that it requires an extreme amount of grinding for ingrediants.

The Shroud uses the crafting prototype to make your own raid loot. It's not true crafting. The binding and attuning ritual and the hardness ritual are closer to what crafting will be like.
I like this spread sheet for shroud combinations, myself. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pLaIqDL_IzJRx5CcCEpCaYg
Some collectables might also play a part in crafting, I can certainly see various molds, mushrooms and such working for potions. Certain gems as well will most likely play a part.
We should see more in May, come Module 7.

I was in the same boat Brute, until I came across DDOwiki's crafting page.
DDOWiki crafting page ftw!
LINKAGE! (http://ddo.enterwiki.net/page/Crafting)
One thing about this page Brute is each altar has its own section. It says below each altar type "Manufactured ingredients" and "Raw ingredients" look at the Manufactured ones first to see what you want to make, then go back to the Raw ingredients to see how to make it.
There was another link someone put up yesterday that was freakin awesome. Lemme see if I can find that.
Here ya go Brutous. LINKAGE! (http://www.randojones.com/Miscellany/DDOCrafting.aspx)
Instead of putting in what ingredients you have, leave it all blank, go down the bottom of the page and put in what you want to make...voila! It tells ya what you need to make it!!
