Let Haggle work with repair of gear

With the change to the death penalty, It would be great if Haggle worked on the cost. Putting a skill to more uses seems like a good idea to me.

Everyone can get a haggle item, or spend a few points in haggle, so that everyone can get some reduction in price.

Or make Repair more useful by having it work as Haggle for this one purchasable feature (gear repair). It certainly makes sense in that the charcter is helping the armorsmith do the repairs.

It couldn't hurt. But I question how important it is. Money is easier to earn in DDO then water is to find in a lake.

Repair is doing the work yourself. Haggle is convincing people they should work for cheap, because you might ask them out later.

What they need is to add the ability to repair your gear, which I think they mentioned considering.

Get the item in your focus orb, hit repair, whatever mechanic happens, happens, dice rolled, repair kits used, and some damage is taken off the item.

I thought they made a change to make haggle work with this, but maybe it was my imagination.

I was in Gianthold last week and had to make some repairs after mysteriously flying up into the air really fast into some spears that someone mistakenly left on the ceiling. Anyway, I put on my coin belt and I could swear I saw the price of repairs drop.

I haven't tried to pay attention since then because I just assumed they fixed it. I'll try it again next time I need to repair.

I agree with Dane that it should (or Repair should lessen the chance to take damage in the first place, like Item Defense). Heck, at that point they can replace Item Defense with +Repair Skill enhancements.



I've not done full calculations for Repair costs, but found something interesting yesterday that a lot of people have been wondering about. A guildie repaired his Dragonplate armor from 0 Durability and it cost him ~32k gp (50% of the armor base value, ~64k gp). I repaired normal armor at 48% durability and it only cost me 5.2% armor base value. Normal Gear 1% durability repair = .1% item base value. The new coin only Scale armor repair in Meridia = 5x normal repair cost (1% scale durability repair = .5% item base value).

Youaen't crazy it worked briefly, but it was a big, which has since been corrected.

also since you were putting on an item that you were not wearing when you died your costs would drop as the item list would change

I would consider repair valuable for this as you could say that it allows you to recognize what is damaged and how much work needs to be done, you could avoid being taken by the repair person who could easily say your vorpal greatsword is due for its 2000 beheading inspection and blade replacement:D

Seriously, it should be haggle, more so if they do make it where you can repair your own equipment.

That way both skills get something.

And intimidate? Naw. It's like upsetting your waiter before you get your food.

when you de-equip an item that needs repair it comes off the list if you've added them to the 'to be repaired pile' and goes back into the 'select item' pile

Ummmmmmm, no. Any weapon or item that is damaged for any reason will come up in the repair list whether it is equipped or not. Except, of course, any dragon scale armor You happen to own............

Ah, I think this is where my confusion is ... the lists.

I was thinking of the list that comes up when I click on the repair tab at the vendor. The list that shows all my damaged items that need repairs.

And I think I was confused because it seems you're talking about the long line of items that shows up after I click on it to be repaired? (i.e. I hop on over to the potion vendor after a Shroud raid. I click on the repair tab and my Minos Legens helm needs to be repaired. So I click on it, and it shows up at the bottom. As I keep clicking on other items that need repair, they go in a line next to the helm.)

Is that right? I don't think I've ever paid a whole lot of attention to that list, so that's probably where my confusion is.

im referring to equipped items only and bouncing them out of the repair que when you switch on your haggle item giving the appearance that it did something by bringing the total repair cost down due to the item you switched out no longer being in the que

Ahh ok, I could've sworn it used to work too. Now I have my haggle item on all the time, so I wasn't sure what it did.

Wow I was in too much of a hurry when typeing that message. Anyway it was a bug, and it only worked once, for example, if you went to repair and put on your haggle item the prices went down, but if you unequiped your haggle item and the prices went up agian, and then you re equiped your haggle item they did not go back down.
