Thank you Devs for the live event.
But I'm now hooked on them. When is the next one?
Please don't make me go through withdrawls.....*twitch.....*twitch.

I am not hooked. The lag worked as aversion therapy. The event went long and as a result, I had to go out to pick up my wife from work and it should have been over by then. Also, the event was NOT properly working across all instances and my team found multiple instances where NOTHING was happening and yet a few others DID have something happening. Instance jumping DID NOT cause lag because there were instances with not a lot of people and others with lots, all of whom weren't jumping, and there was still lag regardless.
Dying put you to the recall point of choice, and since most high level toons were at Meridia, it was like walking through concrete.
If you want more players and are serious Turbine, then you need to stop this overbooking provisioning where you ask for people to come back for a special event, but don't remotely have the bandwidth and server resources to handle it. I've seen eMule and BitTorrent bring ISPs to a grind thanks to raw numbers of connections. Same with port scanning viruses. We must have had a similar huge number of TCP sessions running. That strains server and router capabilities and comes under "do not engage in vast undertakings with half-vast ideas".
All the lagathon did was show to returning players that you're not serious about this being a going proposition. I am staying, but I have to wonder how many you will lose. Over that week I pugged with A LOT of returning people, asking about monks, new mods (like as if mod 4 was new), and so on. I told them my unvarnished opinion and the pros and cons. The thing that bugged people the most? LAG.
Entire quest instances were like running around with a strobe light for the sun. As if time was savaged by unseen claws and shredded. Everyone in several quests were experiencing it no matter where they were in it.
So while you're working on future mass events and whatnot remember: if you want to take in a lot of customers, better have the resources for them. Motel Six doesn't campaign to get the Teamters' convention business.

well I thought it was awesome.
Yes it was laggy but surely you can expect it to be with that many people online at once!! on kyber we had 37 marketplace instances for crying out loud! how cool is that!
Timing was good for us aussies/nz people too, it was on sunday afternoon meaning we could all be a part of it.
and we in the Stormreach Thieves Guild got 4 kills out of 6 of the named that popped near the tent!
And when that tent blew up...that was fricking awesome!
and the new quest kicks arse too. congrats
