Tomorrow night at 12 am?

I'm curious. I'd like to get in as much as possible before switch gets flipped :D and then I can go back to the shroud! hehe

The bonus XP will be departing on Wednesday (looks like in the morning, as it was turned on in the morning when it started, so far as I recall). There's still time for more questing between then and now, chop chop! :D

Lame. If a store advertises a sale from the 5th through the 11th do you expect the sale to stop the morning of the 11th? NO!

Turbine, Seriously why do you do this to yourselves? You open yourselves up to criticism over the stupidest and mostly easily avoidable things. The original post clearly said the Welcome Back week and 25 % exp would be from the 5th - 11th.

Very poor form!

I am disappointed to say the least.

Yup, very bad call.

Here's what the announcement said:

Sounds to me like if I log in ON the 11th, I'd still get the 25% bump.

Just this once, I'll side with you on this. :D

We have been trained, by the real world, that days begin at 12:00 am and end at 11:59:59 pm. No more, no less. It would have been better to follow that standard, but I guess it's too late now. It is kind of strange picking an arbitrary time to turn on a feature and then turn if of 7 days later at some other arbitrary time. What happened to automation? TV has shown us that this automation is possible.

Heck, Semi-Trucks and Jumbo jets have been controlling themselves for years so that truck drivers and pilots can have cocktails and sleep.

Honestly I can't see anyone siding with them on this one. I even challenge Dane to come up with a defense of this one. Very poorly played indeed.

This is a game dude. You could also read 5th - 11th as the 5th TO the 11th. Which means from the morning of the 5th up to this morning, which is exactly what was. I got tons of XP this weekend, had a great time and attented one of the best live events I've seen in any game ever. Nice job Turbine.

The problem with that arguement is the quote from Tolero that stated Wednesday morning.

Actually, 5th TO 11th is only 6 full days, and, last I checked, a week is 7 24 hr days. So, for it to be a welcome back week, it should have lasted through today until tomorrow morning. That is a bit goofy, but I still had a great time.

I enjoyed it as well. I am just really disappointed that they did this as it would have been no big deal for them to actually leave it up all day today, the 11th, especially considering that it didn't start until 12:30 pm EST on the 5th.

Whatever. Based on the lack of interest and outrage in this thread most people either a) don't care that it is over or b) never cared that it began.

I agree with you too. So there.

This is a great game, The event was great, the tent getting sucked up was great, and the bonus XP was great. We probably agree more than you think.

I was just saying that for a lot of others there was an expectation that at 12:00am on 3/5/2008, in one of the 4 time zones of the US 48 contiguous states, that the bonus XP would start. About 10-12 hours later it started.

Part of my original post is also an inside joke.

I was gonna grind out the last 25% night tonight and try to get to mid 12 on my ranger. Now I'll have to settle for 12 and a rank. My mother in law is flying in tonight and staying for a few days. I'd be grinding if it was -25% xp. /shrug

And don't blame Tolero. She used logic and pre-determined information. She's still new and forgets Turbine's DDO works on the plane of Chaos when it comes to time management...just like parts of Ebberon!

So it was day six...then time just jumped to the seventh day!

Or are we going to explain how those epic enemies we just defeated are ready to battle group number 10,326?

Even the local newspapers are accepting of it!

The "New Orc Times" FREQUENTLY lists "Stormreaver ALIVE...AGAIN!"

NOBODY knows what happened in the Game in the game Abbot raid (and no, everybody seems to fail their spot checks for the UFO in the asteroids part.)

And most of us were.....confused when the 12 started following a CALENDER of all things! Come back TOMORROW?!

But then they defined the day starting from 9:30-9:45 -5 GMT and all illogic was restored (explaining the unexplainable, eg, from the invasion counter strike to the Stormreach 6 they rented for us to whap devils ad nauseum.)

I never thought I'd see the day Sir Lawrence and his dancing beholders made more sense (shudders!)

What's interesting is my "free week" ended 1 day early, but apparently, I can still post to the boards. I still had some character maintainence to do as well...

To me, 5th -11th is from the 5th TO the 11th, INCLUSIVE. As someone else remarked, when your boss asks you to work the weekend of the 8th-9th, do you only work on the 8th?

Anyway, was fun to be back, and yes I'll be signing up for the 6 mos for $60 special.

See you in Stormreach.

No, but when they say the mail server will be down from the 5th - 11th I know I can use it on the 11th as that is when the maintenance ends. When they say a certain thing will be available from the 5th - 11th I don't expect to access it after 12 AM on the 11th.

It's semantics but some people will always go with the interpretation that best supports -what they want- and not what was implied/said. Turbine should have been a bit more specific as to that meaning, no argument there.

Better make sure if what you "know" is correct. Because in this case, what you thought you knew was wrong. Whenever you see the use of a hyphen, such as 5-11, you should verify it's meaning. When your boss says your hours are 9-5, do you work until 6?

Wow... all this complaining over XP... the one thing you can never run out of.

In a month the same people will be on the forums complaining about content, and then when they add content the same people will be complaining about enhancements, and then when they tweak the enhancements they'll be screaming stealth nerf and then when Turbine resets the change that they asked for in the first place they'll be threatening to quit because of the inconsistency and when it's all said and done they'll bring up balance and figure out one way or another how the devs totally hate one class or race or playstyle or something.

So it rained on your parade, and it had to end a bit early... what did you lose... honestly? 10,000 xp? You'll get it back in a day or two anyway...

Quick, the first person at the end is the winner... *sigh* you guys seriously are an embarrassment... squabbling over the definition of a day, or what some other store does... just log in and play the game already.

a day or two could have been spent doing something else, like starting another character or finishing the current one faster, especially for those that dont play much. why is it that you disdain complaints? do you never complain about anything? i highly doubt it.

i won't complain there isn't more content i had just hoped to get my 50th char up to where he can party with others and not be powerleveld.

Doing the same content at low lvls is very boring and no i don't have 50 chars i've rerolled many times to roll with turbines punches and just to make new concepts.

I just wish there was different stuff to do at low lvls besides ww->stk->tr->gwylands->stormcleave->deleras->vons->gh->shroud.

I was disappointed. I'm a founder, and came back to try DDO again and see the new content.

My mailer said 5th-11th. I took that to mean from 12:00am Wednesday to 11:59 pm Tuesday. Silly me, but this is the internet age. Well, it didn't start until the 5th was halfway over, and ended first thing in the morning on the 11th. Hardly the "Welcome Back Week" that I was offered. Not quite a week, and a poor welcome. About as welcome as a visit from the in-laws - make them arrive late, and shoo them out as early as possible.

I hadn't quite made up my mind whether to sign up for the 6 month plan, or not. The event was mostly fun, and the new content shows a lot of promise for future play.

The poor customer service/customer relations left a horribly sour taste in my mouth. Yes, it's a tiny, niggling little issue. However, when your promise is perceived as offering more than it actually did, it leaves the potential customer feeling unfulfilled and unsatisfied. Perceived value is critical.

Another Beta player that decided to come back and check things out for the free weekend. Quotes of interest from an e-mail I received the 10th: "DDO Welcome Back Week Is Here - Play DDO Free Through March 11th"

Happly I had gotten the "Welcome Back to Stormreach! Play DDO Free For One Week!" earlier so I didn't miss the whole thing.

I was another founder returning to see what had been added. The e-mail "welcoming" me back said, and I quote via a cut-and-paste from the e-mail, "DDO Welcome Back Week Is Here - Play DDO Free Through March 11th". Sadly, I tried to login today, on March 11, and it was already expired. When something says "through March 11th" I would expect it to last through the day in question. Kind of leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Not that it's a big deal, but one feels a bit less enthused when CS makes a mistake like this. I hope the server populations stay up after the returning players are disconnected. That's a big concern of mine, and this kind of CS screw-up won't help.

I concur with what the few above posters have said as well. Turbine opened the door late and shut it in our face early! The 11th didn't even finish before the door was shut.

It sure didn't feel like a Welcome Back weekend, more like a cheap 2 minute sale as people are rushed in and ushered out ASAP!

Thank you for coming see you later! [sour taste]

I wish this post had been on Dev Tracker so I didn't think it was still going. :P Oh well.

I just wish I knew why they said "through March 11th" and then shut it off as soon as we started March 11th. One of the main reasons why I'm skeptical of resubscribing is server population after the week is over (and CS botching this up doesn't help), as well as concern over how people are treated when they return. I honestly do not feel this game treats new players well. Every single lower level quest I ran through was a blitzkrieg over the weekend. I knew most of these quests already, but this is not helpful to drawing in new players who are experiencing some of these quests for the first time, and it also doesn't help that I saw many experienced players getting frustrated with those new players and treating them rather rudely ("Hurry your @#@ up", "The trap is over here noob", etc....). I'm not saying everyone acted like that, but it happened FAR too often. Frankly, it reminded me exactly why I considered leaving in the first place, and I'm more than a bit concerned it would interfere with my enjoyment of the new quests that have been added.
