I used to be a subscriber, but I stoped playing because I just couldn't stand how small and ugly the item icons are. I like the game and all the content, but I just can't stand the interface. As it stands now, the icons need to be redone they look outdated and are far too small.
Sadly, after returning to DDO a year later none of that has changed. Why doesn't turbine understand how important of a problem this is?
Does anyone know if there are any plans to create higher resolution icons that don't look so cheap? Are there any custom UI's now that fix this problem?
Anyway, when this problem is fixed I will subscribe again.

That's what you call an "important problem"?
I can see it's something you would like changed, but that's getting a little melodramatic.

If that is the only issue which kept you from playing the game...well sorry but I gather you are not a happy person are you? Sorry to say but no game will ever be good enough- ur most likely impossible to please if just that one flaw made you cancel an account. While ur free to post on the forums with constructive feedback-which yours is, I think you'd do better if you just learned to accept game flaws, expecially one which is minor in the overall scheme of things. Graphics-good, gameplay-good, fun factor- good, Item Icons? Sorry not a major thing on the list...TY for you imput

WOW.. Honestly I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought 'icon size' seemed a bit over the top as a reason for quiting..

Icon-size envy is perfectly normal! It happens to more people than you realize. Thankfully there is hope. There are more and more prescriptions every day that can help enlarge icons. All you people who have deminished the OP's feels should be ashamed of yourselves!! Ashamed, I say, ashamed.

What Turbine DID do is let you skil the UI yourself... I'm not sure if it has them all, but it has some of the UI icons as skinnable.

Can I have your small, ugly items?
EDIT: yes, you can edit your icon images - can't change their size though.

Typical forum behaviour, just jump on the criticism and not try to take the angle of the OP. But there is a point here, it's called first impressions and to me the interface as a whole is the games hurdle to a new player. We/They can make fun of the OP, but there are people that have issues with stuff like that, it's about polish. Somewhere marketing should know what stops some players (probably of the more casual kind) to turn away. IMO for me to enjoy the game I have to do some heavy modifications to the UI/Key Binds and I think for every me, there is 9 others that stay with stock settings and honestly I couldn't play the game that way. Luckily for my needs those things were modifiable, the icons, aren't and they don't stop me, but they do look more like development place-holders. Beyond that, love da game.

Did any of you stop to think that maybe he has vision problems and can't see the icons? And, no, getting a bigger screen does not make the buttons bigger. It just gives you more space to put the bars in.
Orrrrrr...
Maybe he can see them fine and all is as it seems...

I just noticed that they removed the UI Skins portion of the forums. While I think the OP is a joke, I figured it was interesting to note that Turbine clearly saw that the UI Skin thing was a joke too.

Everyone is jumping on this guy, but well if he is running a high rez, yes the icons are small, and the chat font can be really small. It is surprising that there isnt a option to increase at lest the font size. The only workaround I can think of is running the game at 800/600 , big icons big chat , but on the flip side the graphics then look like ****.
Not really "quitting " material.

Font sizes will be available in Mod 9. That was one of the first things I noticed when I jumped on the test server.

Why doesn't turbine understand how important of a problem this is?
Probably because it's not an important problem to the vast vast vast majority of players. If anything i feel exactly the opposite, why waste good screen space on icons?

Yes, please make the icons the size of a half-dollar.
I have, on average, 12 hotbars at all times.
I only use the keyboard for targeting and strafing for the most part.
If you made the icons 2 or 3 times the size they are now, I might be able to
focus just on the back of my characters head.
Thank god they added first person view.
FYI, alot of the icons have been changed, if anyone has spent time on lamannia they would see this.
As far as I am concerned, I dont like it when they change things like this.
It only leads to confusion for the majority that have been here.
Look at the pendant of time, It looks worse than it did before although it is "updated"
I could care less what they look like, but I dont like fumbling around looking for something after being trained
to look for something for 2-3 years.
If they have people sitting around in the office with nothing better to do, great.
If not, spend the time working on more constructive things, like more quests, guild housing,
new races and/or classes, new weapon types, new encounters(monster types) etc.
