honestly I've only been in 1 - 3 prior to my reroll.

It was very much the same as a tanks/cleric.

Kill things.
Rez Things.
kill more things...

repetative and dull... but overall rewarding :D

I am, Rameses!

Help Kill the Pit Fiend?

Throw Heal/Cure Scrolls at the Tanks?

Kill Gnolls/Devils when they spawn?

Wand Whip?

Theres a multitude of things for a rogue to do in parts 4 and 5

part 1 - portal hitting, random acts of trog killing, occasional mass heal and yep still have acid clouds and solid fogs to toss.

part 2. - scrolls, sneak attacks, o yeah go sneak up and see who we have to fight. :)

part 3. - good to know puzzles, unlock doors and raise dead when needed.

part 4. hopefully you have decent dps to assist, otherwise bring some web scrolls or aoe scrolls for in between battles - vorpals help too! o yeah and mass heal scrolls when the cleric looks a little peckish.

part 5. more of a back-up dps and healer roll.

Rogue's absolutely own part 4 and 5....Complete immunity (improved evasion )to fireball and meteor swarm....where a certain other class
only gets evasion and gets obliterated on a bad reflex save.Allessa carries roughly 3000 silver bolts and a +2 Holy Burst heavy repeater of Pure Good........with backstab thats ALOT of damage.Im not even gonna mention the stacks and stacks of heal scrolls she carries.
I know you are glad yer Ranger is finally useful but please stop hating on a poor rogue just because Turbine chose to not add ANY decent traps to the new mod. (that weren't optional)

I was in Shroud last night and found something interesting out. Through the use of a few buffs (including Inspire Heroics) and then using Improved Uncanny Dodge, I got my AC up to 66. The Pit Fiend (on normal) couldn't touch me. I think he could only hit me on a 20. So for part 4, I just sat in there doing damage, not having to move. It was pretty fun :)

my own multi-rogue (10/3/3 rogue fighter ranger ) is so far the toon I like to go in the shroud best with....

uses a seeker 6 of greater constuct bane + multi shot for part 1, part 2 goes sneaky and using varies greater banes and multi shot for dps, part 3 open lock time part 4 silver arrows and multishot are lots of fun ...don;t seem to take any damage here while dishing out a ton part 5 again improved evasion helps a ton and great damage....

I've been playing malcis a lot more since mod 6

Most of the baddies including the Pit fiend should be able to be sneak attacked.

Fire ellie and Pit Fiend's meteors can't really hurt a rogue much.......

UMD rogues should bring stuff to help party as needed.....raising clerics for instance.

Wand Whip?
If you're going to sit back and use a wand, Stoneskin is more helpful than CSW.

I just hate the title of this thread as it reminds me of:

"GORILLAS IN THE MIST"

I dont know, just bugged me

At least that's what my rogue did.

Is there sucha thing as a high hp rogue?
Cause I imagine one could do alot of dmg to the pit fiend.

I'm a rogue, and I know he has some fortification, 25% or 50%, but sneaks land.

I guess that depends onwhat ya mean by a "High HP Rogue"

My Drow Rogue has 259 Hit points.. Most people think thats a Lot for a Rogue...... Especially Drow...

That being said, I if you have Improved Evasion and dont pull aggro, you shouldt take much damage from the Pit fiend anyway.

Part of fighting the pit-fiend is also knowing where to stand to avoid his cleave attack. Standing directly behind him is a good way to avoid a signifcant portion of the melee damage and as a rogue you shouldn't be hit at all by his spell damage.

My rogue is a combat rogue. 13 rogue/3 paladin. High AC, high saves, high HP, high DPS. I do what all the other tanks do and beat the snot out of him melee.

My rogue is a strength based drow barbarian 3 / rogue 13 twf dps build. Hp are 300. When I was hitting with transmuting of deception I could see the fiends health visibly going down. I also saw this stop as soon as I pulled out. There are a couple high hp dps builds floating around out there that can do that as well. most notably the dwarven two handers or twf builds.

Rogues should OWN the Shroud, nearly every part if not all. You should own the kill count being 4-5 times higher than the #2 at least. The Shroud is my playground, and it has AWESOME Jungle Gyms.

no aggro pattern makes sneak attacks at melee range dangerous and unreliable. His aggro doesn't seem to have much to do with damage, if you're close to him he'll turn and slap you. Sneak attacks seem to go off about once every 5 or 6 swings. You're more useful helping with res's and heals than giving the clerics one more person to worry about.

My sneak attack goes off plenty in part 4....

My rogue (12 lvls pure) is sitting at 343 HP's before madstone rage hits (that's not even GFL; just improved). With improved subtle backstab, I'm putting out almost as much damage as my barbarian - and taking far less damage for it.

Now, if you don't have that kind of HP base on your rogue, I do recommend whipping stoneskin wands. Being oneshot by the cleave attacks is not beneficial to anyone. While their are strategies to avoid getting hit, he does a lot of AOE attacks especially in part 5.

Honestly, if you are having trouble getting into groups, send a tell with your contributions. Most groups, once they learn how "tank-ish" my rogue is, have no issues accepting him. If you are more of a UMD/trap build, let them know your willingness to burn heal/stoneskin wands to keep those doing the damage moving.

Is that why my Rogue outkilled your uber barbarian last run? Hmmmmm, I also seemed to keep your sorry butt alive in pt 4 after the clerics all wiped, actually no, you were already dead.

Cheers :D

Yep, it seems like he may be 50 or 75% fortified to me as well or just that his aggro pattern cycle very quickly as he spins and eliminates the sneak attack factor.

Also, my rogue was at 420hp's in there last night :) (though to be fair he's 10 rogue/4 pally/2 fighter)
