Well I just came back after a long break and got my first vale experiences.
I was happy as can be walling, coneing and blasting my way through the dungeon.
Apparently though it was required that I take disco ball.
Is it that bad? On normal, once I got used to them, I worked those bearded devils + co like a succubus on dollar day.
Is that next to impossible on hard-elite?
I personally don't see the need for the disco ball spell ( event though it's a good spell) but if you have other input I will consider it.
Thanks in advance.

If you know what you're doing you don't NEED disco ball. (Besides, on elite, good luck getting it to hit unless you are enchantment and spell penetration spec'd with a maxed casting stat)
However, there are many cases where having it does make things quite a bit easier, so it's difficult to not take it. Still, so many juicy juicy level 7 spells, so many crappy crappy level 8 spells.. if only I could stick another lvl 7 into that lvl 8 slot :)
Another "needed" spell (and here I actually caved in and got it..) is flesh to stone. Several quests are far more difficult without it.

I find that in part 4 web & symbol of stun work better then the more popular solid fog / mind fog / dance ball.
It doesn't lag your computer, and once a mob gets hit by either web or stun, they can't teleport out (unless someone burns up the web, which would be silly since aren't they immune fire?)
If you prefer either of these 2 spells to dance sphere, I would say roll with them. They're better, anyway. Fog just slows things down and makes it to where you can't see the 'crazy blades' that spawn when you kill the Devils. Dance sphere they can still teleport out of, making mind fog an unnecessary 'excess' spell.
Hope this helps.
I like the level 8 Irresistable dance. Works even on porting mobs. For level 7 - FoD and Banishment all the way. Let the wizzies and bards worry about dancing balls.
