lol, so every once and a while I am sure we all get great emails from stupid people.
I actually like to read those emails then report them as spam, delete etc
Today I got one of those great "give me your telephone # and I will give you millions of dollars"
share your emails here! So that we can all laugh at them, cause if you read through them, they are actually funny, the lack of grammar in and of itself is worth a good laugh. kinda like reading the forums and all of our bad grammar from time to time.
Dear Friend,
Greetings, it impresses me a lot to email you, do accept my apologies
if my mail does not meet your personal ethics because I love to
introduce myself and the aim of written you, my name is Barrister

notice to me by providing his or her next of kin or Ghana government

Lol, some Nigerian wants to be "friends" with you...which means he wants to kill you and take any money he can from you in the process. The really funny thing is he asks if that fits with your personal ethics. How touching for him to show such concern for your feelings.

I get these ALL the time by fax at work. Most are great reads, don't ever bother reporting them to authorities though, authorities don't care UNLESS someone was dumb enough to send money.
That said, there is a select "group" of people who actively mess with these scammers. I won't put the website here (I think thats against the rules) but you can easily find them.
But an example of things they do is to contact the scammers, goto western union or whatever to send the money, put it on the wire, then NEVER give these guys the password (you need the pickup password/number to retrieve the funds) so they just frustrate the hell outta these guys. Imagine this dude in Nigeria, his boss is on him to get the money, they know the money is there, but for some reason you keep up making excuses for the password not arriving, (email was partially scrambled, etc etc). I can't condone anything (when these guys get ****ed they send death threats and such) but that said there are tons of ways to really really rile these guys up.....lots of fun if you are carefull, creative, patient, and have lots of free time.

lol its not a "legion" thing, it's a scambaiting thing.
Although it is part of my contribution to the legion community outreach program. Kind of like how Renegade has his foster a newb program, and Rayzor and a few others give inspirational replies to DDO posts, I give back by screwing with scammers (without me these people would be out some serious dough to some foreigner, now they can help our economy by buying flobies and pet rocks instead of supporting foreign economies).
So what is scambaiting? Well, put simply, you enter into a dialogue with scammers, simply to waste their time and resources. Whilst you are doing this, you will be helping to keep the scammers away from real potential victims and screwing around with the minds of deserving thieves.
It doesn't matter if you are new to this sport or a hardened veteran; if you are wasting the time of a scammer, or frustrating them in any way well that's good enough for us, and we would welcome you to join with our now very large community.
Hehe, those emails are fun. I've replied to several in hopes of millions of dollars. In the end it seems though the scammers don't like to work with me anymore. Here is a link to one that I replied to- http://www.crimsonwatch.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3295

You make me jealous now that I didn't get an email like that. Is there some site where we can register for their mailing lists?

Reminds me of the whole "Red Vs. Blue: Real Life vs. The Internet":
"Hi, I'm Nigerian Royalty. You need to send me money. Please disregard the fact that I can't spell Nigeria... Or Royalty..."
That is one of the best things I have ever found online.
/doesn't get out much (j/k)
