To celebrate Dungeons and Dragons Online™: Stormreach™'s second anniversary, we're proud to announce special anniversary subscription pricing!
For a limited time, the Dungeons and Dragons Online special anniversary promotion lets new and existing subscribers play for only $9.99 a month when they sign up for six months of service for the special price of $59.94 (subject to certain terms and conditions). That’s nearly $18 off the regular 6 month subscription price!
Players who subscribe to the new plan will continue to be billed $59.94 every six months for as long as they maintain an active account with Dungeons and Dragons Online, or until they choose a different billing plan. Players who currently subscribe to Dungeons and Dragons Online and select the special offer will be transferred to the anniversary subscription package once they have completed their current subscription plan.
This offer ends on April 7, 2008. Head over to http://myaccount.turbine.com (http://myaccount.turbine.com/) for more details and the terms and conditions!

What about those of us who pay by the year already? Any special rate? Will it be the same?

Nice! Except I don't see it as a billing choice. The choices are either 1 month, 3 months, or 12 months.

What about those of us who pay by the year already? Any special rate? Will it be the same?I just did this myself. I chose the new billing plan and it's locked in. My next billing date stayed the same, but the billing plan is indeed marked Special. Just don't mess with your billing plan in the future (unless they come out with a lower price ;)).
Players who subscribe to the new plan will continue to be billed $59.84 every six months for as long as they maintain an active account with Dungeons and Dragons Online, or until they choose a different billing plan. Players who currently subscribe to Dungeons and Dragons Online and select the special offer will be transferred to the anniversary subscription package once they have completed their current subscription plan.
Thanks Quarion and thanks Turbine. You made my DDO anniversary! I'm a Glad_Bombardier. :D

It was there for me... I just switched over.
I liken it to paying a drug dealer in advance... but who am I kidding. I'll take 6 months of crack at a reduced rate.

Yeah, the option didn't show up the first time I went to the page, but if you log out and relog it will appear.

Yeah, I just went and changed it to 6 months to get the special rate as well. I am guessing that the number of annual subscribers was fairly low, so the bonus made the most sense at 6 months.

Switch both my son's and my own subscription to 6 months instead of annual. Strange that a shorter, more flexible timeframe has a lower cost, but I'm not going to complain.
Thoughts on why they did this:
1. They have a lot of casual players who played so little that $15/month seemed like too much. So, $10/month
2. Some players chew through the new content in a month, and then leave for 3-4 months. With a lower price, they'll re-up and won't bother to suspend their accounts.
3. They're going to drop the annual subscription even more, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
4. They think they're going to have a huge influx of new players coming up, and wanted to give the existing players preferred pricing.
5. The new CEO wants to experiment with different pricing models, to see what happens with cancellations and new subscirptions (i.e. are potential players price-sensitive?)
6. DDO is such a phenomenally profitable game that they felt obliged to give something back to the players
Any others? :-)

I'm glad to see this. Both my accounts for a $120.00 a year. Very nice.
Was wondering if we'd ever see an option to purchase an additional character for an account.

Wow that was close:
Next Billing Date: February 13, 2008
I was about to be billed for twelve months TOMORROW and just got in there in time!
Strange that 2 x 6 months should cost less than 12 months... surely you should be rewarding those customers willing to commit for a year more than those willing to commit for 6 months????!

7) They HAVE had a huge influx of players, they wanna snag em for 6months worth of dollars before they leave the game?

I'm sold! I'm confident enough with what I've seen of DDO to make a 6 month commitment.
Let me add - the deciding factor for me is that Turbine staff meaningfully engage the community via the forums, and display a genuine personal interest in making this game better.

Dumb observation Im sure but:
I went in, clicked the Special 6 month price, clicked I agree, clicked Submit.
It took me back to the Home billing page and still said in my billing summary that I was on a 3-month plan.
Is this how it is supposed to display until the end of my three months runs out? Or did I mess up and not get the switch done right?
Thanks for any help.

When I switched from Annual to Bi-Annual, it still reads as Annual until the date runs out, and then notes that the re-up will be for 6 months (which is correct), so unless your 3 months ends today....I think you were seeing the right thing.

Just what are these certain terms and conditions for the new price? Are they any different than that of the original terms and conditions? I ask this because I couldn't find any.
Sad that I thought to ask after I already changed to the new billing plan. So please give us any of the bad news, since you already got our money.
Thank You.

Nothing personal Q, but I think I'll wait to see what is in the "Mysterious" 6.1. The last time I saw this much hype was when SWG released the Trials of Obiwan expansion and then hit us with the NGE. I know you are not SOE but I don't want the "BIG" suprise to be a complete overhaul. I hope you make me regret doubting you but...

Not as good as the LOTRO subscription plans. Too bad.
I don't play DDO in 6 month stretches so this doesn't help me. Thanks anyway. Buy 4 months and get 2 free is a nice deal for those that play a lot.
I would enjoy a $200 lifetime cost or a recurring $10/mo.

The $10/month is the same as LOTRO - if you cancel at any time, you lose that price. I totally agree about the lifetime sub! I'm curious as to why they think it would work with LOTRO, but not work here.... [Unless maybe it DIDN'T work well for LOTRO? I find that hard to believe as I remember seeing something about >50% of founders taking the lifetime option - works out to almost 2 years guarranteed income <and all at once, too!>]

A "Turbine Pass" would be a dream come true! [although price WOULD matter - who has time to play 3+ MMOs?! - $20-30/month would work] Then again, how would they incorporate LOTRO lifetime subs? Take $10 off the price?

I would enjoy a $200 lifetime cost or a recurring $10/mo.I reckon that many players were subscribing/playing for 2 months, then cancelling for 1 month while waiting for updates. Now, with the new pricing, they can subscribe for 6 months at a time for the same cost as 4 individual months (with no cancel/resubscribe process) and Turbine doesn't have to worry about them not coming back after cancelling. It's a smart move on Turbine's part. And for those of us who play the whole 6 months already get a nice price break. :)
Sorry to hear that neither of the above cases applies to you. :( Maybe Lifetime subs or "Turbine Passes" will be in the works at a later date?

Err.
I mean the "Pay less, play more, or so we hope.." promotion :p
(Although I'm sure my significant other would have liked the former better :) )
Anyway, thanks for listening to all of us who were a bit put down by being excluded from the previous pricing promotion, and instead got a really awesome deal to celebrate the anniversary. Happy DDOing to you guys 'n' gals at Turbine!
