What have other rangers been taking as a 3rd level 2 spell at level 16?

The choices look rather poor. Most of the stat spells are overwritten by +6 stat items. The Bush doesnt work all that well and snare gets broken almost from the get go. It almost looks like either protection, mass camo, or hold animal. Hold animal is tempting but a dc of (10 + 2 + 6 = 18) isnt too impressive so I wonder if it would land. Protection is interesting but has limited applications. Same holds true with mass camo.

What ALL Ranger spells do you keep memorized?

I took Protection from Energy. Nobody sneaks, so mass camo is useless, due to popular play-style. Hold animal MAY be useful in the vale, but not sure "Magical Beast" will count as animal, worth trying though.

I have Summon Animal... er... The Lioness... but, really its not much use since she dies pretty quick on level-appropriate quests. Took Cure Moderate too just because nothing else seems really decent.

I use wild insticts, it's a +10 to spot
and
Cure mod, when that healing is needed.

Resist, Jump, Rams
Cure light, Bark, Hold animal
Cure mod, Disease
Cure serious, Freedom

I found that I can land hold animal on the rats and dogs pretty well (75% of time) but the spell is limited to vale use only. But yeah for all other content it looks like protection.

Kinda wish they would implement the following spells for us:
1st
Claws of the bear
Deep Breath
Healing Lorecall
Towering Oak
2nd
Fell the Greatest Foe
Haste, Swift (ogres seem to have something similar)
3rd
Arrow Storm
Blade Storm
Find the Gap
Mark of the Hunter
4th
Foebane
Planar Tolerance

MT has the descriptions listed somewhere on the forums.

As a level 15 Ranger, I keep the following spells memorized...

Ram's Might
Jump
Resist Energy

Barkskin
Bear's Endurance

Cure Moderate Wounds
Wild Instincts

Freedom of Movement
Cure Serious Wounds

For my 3rd level 2 spell, I suppose I would take Protection from Energy. Wouldn't energy damage have to go through the Protection spell first, then the Resist spell? Wouldn't be too bad to have a little extra layer of damage control.

The Protection from Energy spell is very useful when having to deal with some of the elite traps.

Bush is ridiculously ineffective as is snare. As a test, I entered a lvl 2 dungeon with Kobolds and cast bush and snare. They saved more often than not and if they failed the save the spells were effective for about 2 seconds. Terrible waste of time and mana. The hold spell is almost as bad. Hits more often than not, but again the monsters save in about 2 seconds. I chose Barkskin (of course), Protection, and one of the stat raisers depending on the quest because some characters don't have +stat items to hit runes or switch switches (rare but it happens). If they would just move the Mer (swim buff spell) down to lvl 2 or incorporate some of the better lvl 2 ranger spells listed above...playing a ranger would be even better.

Protection from energy is a must.. if you do the shroud you need to keep protection from fire on in part 4-5 (300-30 is still 270), if you tank the reaver you need to keep protection from electric on, ect.

Protection from Energy stock has risen due to crazy high elite trap save DC's. Casters may not be carrying it due to their having better spells available. An opportunity for rangers to fill the gap. :)
