I've tried to play around with this idea and just can't seem to get it right. Was wondering if I could get some help. What I am looking for is the fantasy classic Barbarian Shaman. Part mystic, part warrior and very dangerous. I have 32 pt builds available. I wan't to go human for the RP purpose. The idea behind this build is to be a great second man (as most shaman's are). Crowd control and heal as needed more in the back up position and be able to deal out damage as back-up tank. This idea is really just for my personal fun but I would like something viable and able to contribute to the party. My indecision lies on what to mix with the barbarian part ie cleric, cleric/wiz, i've even considered cleric/bard...some thoughts ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would think barbarian/bard would work best for this concept. Maybe a warchanter, if you take a lot of bard levels. If you want something that fits in with the Eberron setting, might consider the Seren barbarians, off the coast of Argonnessen. They worship the dragons of Argonnessen, and sometimes adopt dragon totems as a path to power.

i have the following builds that kind of fit the bill (both human)

evasion skald - 13 bard/2 rogue/1 barbarian

arcane survivalist - 11 sorc/3 pally/2 rogue

the first seems to be more of what you are thinking although the second is a soloist extraordinaire (because no one will let him in groups). if you want either build, let me know.

One important thing to keep in mind is you can't use spells, scrolls, wands, clickies when raging.

I think there are two decent options. One is to go for Barbarian-Bard and use the warchanter enhancement. Focus on Str, Cha, Con and it should work pretty well. The nice up side is you can use UMD. Bard is great for buffing and croud control (you need decent charisma for the latter task).

Cleric and Barbarian works if you want to be more of a multi talented spell caster. You get to use heavy armor and you could take quite a few cleric levels and keep your combat skills up to snuff. The down side here is that the more you invest in casting, the more unlikely it is you will ever want to use rage as it prevents spell casting while raged. Generaly Cleric and Fighter work out a bit better. The bard build has this issue as well, but the singing and the raging go together a bit better and folks are counting on you less as a healer.

Arcane classes just don't mix especialy well with barbarian for various reasons. You can do it but the benefits are few and it is more a novelty act.

The barbarin/bard thing actually works well for me. I don't suppose someone could give me a good build idea for this. (Sig) since I've read your other posts here? Pretty Please!

With the Evasion Skald in mind, wouldn't it make a good Shaman build if you replace Rogue with Sorc and split the Bard lvls toward the Sorc levels?

I have a flavor build by the above build type dwarven ranger/bard/rogue. At lvl 20 you would be ranger 11/bard 8/ rogue 1, but you could change the rogue to barb for your shaman. Feats would be tight, but you would need fewer skill that the rogue splash. Or you could mix up the levels even more if you wanted. The 11 ranger gets u the whole twf chain with only a dx of 13. Required feats would be dodge, mobility, spring attack for the tempest ranger; Power attack, and weapon focus for warchanter I. Others would be toughness, improved crit(slash). the last one could help your bard spells Maximize for heals, extend for buffs, or dps oversized twfing.

Another would be to mix the Monster build classes up instead of the 12 ranger/6 pally/2 monk, you could go 12 bard/ 6 barbarian/ 2 fighter. I am however unfamiliar with the requisites for that build. Check some of the bard builds on the forums that have splashes of barbarian. One i've seen is 16 bard/ 2 barb/ 2 fighter.
