i understand, even with evasion, only being able to negate half teh damage.
i understand the concept of an aura effect (ie. cloudkill, acid rain, acid cloud, incinderary cloud (sp?), solid fog).
but all those auras have in common, a graphic showing where to avoid.
this post isn't really to say anythings bugged or broken, but seems kinda unfair. if the damage is totally unavoidable, there should at least be a graphic to level the playing field between those **** salt mephits :-O

All the effects you listed as persistent AEs. Horrid Wilting is a one shot spell.

Horrid Wilting is not a reflex save, it's a fort. save. So evasion does not work against it.

It does have a graphic, its like soundburst but smaller and faster so its very hard to notice.

But unlike sounburst - its not dodgeable. If your in its AOE - you get hit, thats it, its an instant effect which does make it pretty mean.

It's unresistable damage too like disintegrate.

So instant cast, undodgeable, aoe dmg.

Really only happens in 2 places tho: black abbot raid (he spams it every second, it sucks...) and the shroud raid, third part - tho these ones are predictable trap-type effects... Still not dodgeable but predictable.
