The new death panalty is damage to items. Dragonscale armor can only be repaired with relics.
If you die 10 times over the course of two days, you got to spend three relics.
At that pace, you have 100 deaths in twenty days.
That would work out to 30 relics in twenty days.
Who wants to do all those gianthold quests in twenty days when we are working on mod six?
This is not fair.
I spent around 50 Gianthold Tor runs to get my dragonscale armor.
Eventually, I will run out of relics to repair it, whether it is bound to me or not.
I am not spending my gametime doing level 13 instances to get these relics.
All other equipment, including the sword of shadows, can be repaired by the vendor in the desert pre-mod six.
My most powerful item as a Sorcerer has a curse.

I completely agree.

You do have a couple other options:
1) Don't wear your Dragonscale armor while you're exploring new content. Everyone dies more in new content, so you'd probably be safer to fall back to your alternative armor.
2) Die less. Granted this is hard when you're, as noted above, exploring new content, but it is always something one can work towards..
3) Buy relics on the auction house. They're up there, and you may not want to pay for them, but it's that or spend your time farming them yourself.

Yep im completely regretting not selling my scales on the AH with the new and IMHO stupid death penalty coming into effect.

Relics are fairly cheep in the AH. All the higher lvl loot that you pull and sell should more than make enough money for it.

Relic repairs cost went down as well so the bite isn't as bad (which you mentioned in your post). Went to repair my dragon robes last nite with the usual 5 ante and was quite pleased to still see 2 in my inventory after the exchange. It was then I remembered the release notes mentioning this..but it was a nice little reminder.
At least it isn't still 5 relics per repair ;)

Well it is a luxury to have that armor I guess.

I found dragon armor is now a liability.
I had to repair last night after a quest before starting the next and it seemed to take a long time. I was on my cleric, so no GT or regular teleport. I had to run back to the twelve, throught the market , and to gianthold. Then back again to Meridia. When your used to getting everywhere quickly it seems like forever.
Not to mention my existing relics are going to be depleted quickly. I actually do like the new death system, but I wish dragon armor was easier to repair. It is now taking away from the enjoyment of the game and I don't think that was intentional.

While it sucks to have to either buy relics or continue to grind gianthold to get them, the real downside in my oppinion is that there is only one place to repair this armor. While we can rest and repair everything else anywhere in the game parties now have to either sit and wait for the people with dragon scale armor to run back to Gianthold or people with Dragonscale armor are forced to carry 2 sets of armor 1 of which is most likely considerably inferior to the other.
I can think of only about 3 reasonable solutions to this at the moment.
1. Put teleporters in Gianthold, The Twelve and the Meridia.
2. Put in Armorsmiths that can repair dragon scale armor using relics in more places.
3. Make the damage from the new death penalty repairable by any vendor and still require us to go to the normal places for regular wear and tear damage.
I dont think there is anybody out there who wants to wait for half the party to run to gianthold and back every time someone dies a couple of times. :(

I can understand a bad streak of 10 deaths one bad night doing something beyond your level - but live and learn and dont do that again right... but not 100 deaths in 20 days..
If thats happening to you, it's time to reroll with some more con. 6 con really isn't enough at high lvl.
Or even better yet - if your in a high risk area - don't wear your dragonscale robe, there are tons of other great robes.. Personally my sorcerer wears his maybe 1/4 of the time, often he has on fearson robe, or heavy fort, or antithesis (greater stability) which are all great robes.

Actually I agree with this.
the whole have to repair dragon armor with dragon relics is kind of antiquated.
Time for something new to come about. Maybe make the dragon relics purchasable from a vendor.

I must agree with the OP on this one. The Dragon armor repairs are killing me with the new death penalty.

2. Put in Armorsmiths that can repair dragon scale armor using relics in more places.
It would certainly make sense for The Twelve to have someone who can do this, either in Meridia or in the Twelve itself.

Agree also. This is an unneeded burden, please take the relic requirement away and let the armor be reapir like all other items.

Cleared the vale last night with 2 deaths - and although the penalty only cost 20% the increased rate quickly ate the the other 80% during combat (especially those teleporting types). Bad that scale armor was so wimpy to start - worse that the death penalty affects scale the same as normal gear - and worse yet the escalating damage rate :(

It would certainly make sense for The Twelve to have someone who can do this, either in Meridia or in the Twelve itself. It would make for a great ritual using the Stone of Change. Add your dragonscale armor + relics = repaired! :)

That would be cool also for this area.
I'm also thinking of the ones still running the Necropolis, Restless isles, VON's, DQ etc. who are taking the damage with deaths teleporting out to the market place and then having to run all the way back to the Necropolis, Desert etc. in order to continue. Not just the ones running the new content.

Not just the ones running the new content.True. With Stones of Change only in the Twelve and the Marketplace, it really doesn't save you much running (2 zones away from GH for the Twelve, 1 zone away for the Market).

I am floored.
It seems we players have found something we all agree on.
It was obviously an issue that the dev's thought of, that's why they lowered the repair cost from 5 relics to 3. But there needs to be some other solution to this. The lower relic cost is good, but the effort to get to the repair smith is not in the spirit of DDO.

Awesome job to the Devs for adding a Vendor that can repair Dragon Armours with Cash :)
Relics no longer required and no Perm dmg! Woohoo!! (repairs armour at 0 durability)

4) Take some time to collect a store of relics.
5) Go to Meridia, as they now have a relic free Dragonarmor repair option.

Uh, yeah. My post was from before that was possible.
Now it's kind of moot. Just repair it for cash.

Foolish mortal! Have you learned nothing! All threads can be necro's at any time! In fairness, I didn't check the date of the thread.
