I really had high hopes for DDO. I've hung around for going on two years now, the unrealistic expectations for releasing new content (classes and races) along with a growing lack of communication from the Devs has really lowered my enthusiasm for the game. It's still a great game and hopefully it will get more attention from Turbine in the future. I'll check back in a while to see if there's been any progress.

Unfortunately it will take longer than a couple of months.

seriously, how much would having a new race make things any better for the vast majority of players? Gnomes? Half-X? What? Will the quests be any different? Nope. Will the overall skill mix and balance be all that changed? Nope. Really a minor thing in the big picture.

Honestly, it is fine to tire of a game. No need to create excuses. You might need a break, or more. That happens.

Unfortunately, when you set up bogeyman targets of (new Classes/ Races) will keep me happy, then once (if they happen) you get to play them a little and you find that you are still bored playing the same things again, you are right back at square one. I mean STK is still STK with a Hobbit/Gnome/Dwarf/Warforged or Ninja Turtle....

An MMO is about playing with other people. That does not really depend on content, but on interaction and having fun.

Leaving on the eve of new content?

It's actually a pretty good system for taking a break.

It means there's more to do when you get back.

I've taken two breaks from this game myself. Maybe Mod 6 will be a good one? I don't expect Mod 7 to come out until next year and I play a paladin. That's what's keeping me here for now.

You really think it is going to take a Whole year for them to develop Mod 7?...........Why?

The DDO side of Turbine seems, to me, to take their time on everything in addition to pushing release dates back. Mid-summer is the best ETA I'd give them for Mod 7, but ok, honestly we shouldn't expect it until fall. Might as well be next year. Also, the paladins can use some class reviewing anyway. I hope they don't throw something together for us either.

If they keep to the new schedule they have as of Mod 6... Unless something really gets in the way... should take 4-5 months... Next month is 6.1 and then 4 more.. No reason it should take longer.. They have already started the development for Mod 7... SO my guess is June-July..

Edit: I am erring on the Worse side... their new schedule format for release is actually less then 4 months... But Mod 6 took 4 months..

and...one of those months was the vacation/holiday heck we call "Yule time".....or what have you. I think 3-4 months per update is not bad.

The first year we were getting updates of some sort every month.
The second year, updates began to slow down to once per 2-3 months.
Since we're coming into the third year and judging by the past pattern, I'm guessing this year we'll be getting updates once a quarter.

That really depends on what you consider an "update."
