so i was running with some Legion guys tonight farming some xp and i had a thought.........

when you make a group, why not state what gear youre doing the quest in.....

gear? yes gear!

1st gear = slow playing style, all optionals, RP'ers, new players
2nd gear = still rather slow
3rd gear = not going for optionals, moving at a quick pace
4th gear = no optionals, farming the xp, getting the quest done fast
5th gear = blinding speed, no optionals, no RP, no slow playing, get the quest done as fast as possible
overdrive Ludicrous speed = no new players, no optionals, faster the better, if you cant keep up dont join!

maybe we can get this idea to catch on as a simple warning to ppl LFGs, so you know exactly what to expect coming into the group

example: VON 1-4, 4th gear!

example: cabal for one, 5th gear!

simple way to explain the speed at which the leader would like to run the quest without some long explanation in the LFM box

just a thought, just an idea

/wave all my Overdrive Ludicrous speed runners!

btw, this isnt totally my idea, i saw a guy named Wratchet using this in his LFM post and thought it was a great idea and worth posting about

/salute Wratchet

Speaking in "gears" is not a native thing to me, although I am for filling the LFM description with something relating to how you want to run the quest.

Cute.

Actualy I kind of like the idea of joining those overdrive groups. Show up in the quest in progress, get a drink while they finish it and then find another one. I don't actualy do that to be honest but I've though about it from time to time.

When I want to do a quest super fast I just don't invite others outside my pals. It seems kind of pointless to LFM when you can do the quest with a couple hard core folks unless you are just offering a free ride out of generosity.

Maybe just 3...

1st: Slow, explore, do everything
2nd: Normal speed, hittin' most of the main stuff
3rd: Supa-Fast

I like these options. Now if I'm zerging then I'm not usually gonna pug it. I also usually try to hit most of the optionals unless zerging.

I can do this version, easier than the gear thing. Gears remind me of the Shadow crypt and would confuse everyone.

Wait, I have a hard enough time remembering my name... sorry but remembering all these gears/levels/curtseys would break me, or my name's not seancrane2. :P

Question-why is it that none of your gears allow for speed runs WITH optionals?

Well, with regards to your Experience with Legion...

When you see an LFM by a Legionnaire just assume: Zerg as fast as possible.

If you see one by me: it WILL be zerg as fast as possible

I just joined the game a few days ago. This would be VERY helpful to me. Often by the time I have found the place and caught up to everyone the quest is over. I want it nice and slow and maybe a little roleplay too. 1st gear here!

It's Uma. You pucker up your lips, and say "oomah". And I'm crushed that you'd forget me so easily, Ringos... crushed.

Try looking for people from guilds that are geared toward roleplaying, such as Fellowship of the Golden Night, Order of the Sword and Rose, even (on occasion) some of the folks from Legatia Invictus. Or check the link in my sig about Thelanis Thursdays that will take you to a thread that lists a few more roleplaying guilds. Also, on Thursdays more of the roleplayers seem to come out of the woodwork, so maybe try starting at the Phoenix Tavern, and take note of the names of people that participate in open roleplaying there so you can ask any of them about running in-character quests.

how about one for not wasting time on optionals and just do the quest as our own speed (slow ro fast or relaxed, zerg, wait, whatever.

just because people do not want to waste time doing optionals does not mean it is a SPEED run. It can be a fun run to get xp, favor, and complete the quest.

I like to add stuff like this to the lfms to let others who also desire to not spend precious game time looking for boxes, that this would be the group for them.

No matter how you do it, the breadth and width of player experience does make for an issue in many dungeons, that is for sure.
As far as I know though, this is the first MMO that really deals with party play on a large scale. So I guess as we go this will be developed better..

whoknows?

LOL

For anyone, anywhere, anytime, for any reason. legion rocks at 5th gear and above.

join with caution, else your joints fuse and your heart cease to beat.

Anything below 4th gear, find an officer, tell them who the culprit is, and they will promptly be booted from the guild

It also helps to advertise that you're not familiar with the quest up front and I'm sure someone will slow down to help you out. :)
