guild hosting services

I was wondering, which do people consider to be the best guild hosting service (for DDO ofc :)), and why?

I used guildportal.com and many other guilds on ddo use it too.
guildportal.com is free, and if you want premium service it uses paypal. Very customizable and easy to use. Has a lot to offer.

yeah... Legends of Aerenal uses guildportal.com. we use the premium service and i find it very easy to edit, maintain, use. you don't need to have web site experience to get a nice site together.

Guild Portal Kinda has the market cornered onthis type of Service...

But for a few bucks more you can have your own website. Makes more sense to me.

I personally don't think GuildPortal or Guild Universe are worth a spit. I find the forum section of each to be abysmal compared to a real forum (vBulletin, Invision, etc) but they are free and many people do use them.

If you have the knowledge, I'd say setup your own website and forums. Then you have complete control and don't have to try and work within a cookie cutter system where every site looks the same.
