Hiya - yeah, I'm really excited that we were able to make this happen! I'm going to copy over most of a post here that I've posted on the DDOcast web site that may answer a few questions:

DDOcast is pleased to announce a new segment to the show....Ask The Devs!

This is something that I've been hoping would happen for a while now, and it's officially a "go"! Here's how it will work: About once a month I will be getting together with a couple of folks who bring you Dungeons and Dragons Online: Stormreach for a casual, but informative Q-and-A! The questions will be yours!

As many of you know, I've been getting the occasional email since the start of the podcast that generally goes like this:

"Hey, next time you get to talk to someone from DDO, could you ask them about ______?"

"I liked your interview with ______, but I wish you would've asked them about ______."

"Hey loser! Why the heck didn't you ask about vorpal lumps of coal?!?!?!" (just kidding!)

So far I've been collecting these questions and placing them in a "master list" of things to ask the DDO devs when I get the chance. In fact, some of the things I've asked Kate Paiz and Eladrin during my chats with them came from you! Thing is, I've always been hoping to have a more regular way to interact with the DDO crew and get your questions answered, and the time is now!

Of course, the fine folks at Turbine will continue to answer tons of player-submitted questions on their regular www.ddo.com forums. Think of this as sort of an extra "bonus round"!

I am so happy that we are able to bring this to you and I think you will really enjoy it. I really need to give a ton of credit to Quarion and all of the other great people at Turbine who have been working to make this happen - thanks so much!

The first segment of Ask The Devs is set to be broadcast on February 2nd, which also happens to be DDOcast's one year anniversary! Oh yeah, that's gonna be a great episode...

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR QUESTION(S) FOR ASK THE DEVS:

Simple! Just send it all in to ddocast@gmail.com. That's it! I will be collecting everyone's questions and passing them along to the devs, who will then take a look at what's in store and get some answers ready for you! Ask as many questions as you would like.

If you would prefer not to email your questions, I have also created a stickied post on the DDOcast Forums (General Chat) where you can write your questions there.

If possible, it would be great if you would sign your question with whatever name you would like me to use when I ask the question to the devs. Maybe a forum name, character name, "real" first name, whatever. Not necessary but helpful.

WHAT CAN I ASK?

Anything! "Hard" questions, detailed questions, questions about the future, questons about the past, questions about why your dwarf on Sarlona has funny eyebrows - it's all good! We (aka - me and the devs) want to hear it all! Of course, I probably won't be asking them stuff that involves personal attacks against people, but basically anything goes! Feel free to ask about whatever is on your mind that is DDO-related. Or ask about something "fun", just for kicks. FYI - my favorite color is brown and my favorite movie is Repo Man.

I can't promise that every question you submit will be answered, but we'll sure answer as many as we can!

WHEN IS THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT QUESTIONS?

Well, the goal is to record these about once per month, generally towards the end of the month for broadcast on the next available episode at the beginning of the month. So, I'd suggest sending in your questions earlier rather than later, but no worries! If you miss one segment, I'll just pass them along for the next one!

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? Feel free to write me at ddocast@gmail.com or post in the comments section below.

Nice idea. Posting my question here as well as emailing it.

Would you consider adding a difficulty substantially harder than Elite to existing quests at all (for example, create an 'Epic' difficulty setting for limited quests so, for example, Tempest's Spine becomes a level 17-18 quest?

Great news! Thanks, Jerry and everyone at Turbine!

So will Tolero/Merlask be the one behind the mic, or will it be someone else, or will it be several people? What is the format going to be like? Just Jerry and the Turbine rep, or will the other cast members be on as well? (BTW, I like the combined format best)

Jerry has also hinted at something to do with the new PnP book City of Stormreach and or Keith Baker. He won't announce it until it's official. I for one am dieing to know what this thing is.

EXCELLENT!
We've been glamoring for Dev attentions.. Codog has his Dog house, and this 'Ask the Dev' weekly (or regular) addition to the already cool DDOcast? And the recent article on gamespy? C'mon... You folks can't really say these guy's aren't trying anymore.

Jerry - Excellent Scoop! I'm sure it's hard earned and well deserved!

*** is with all this communication direct from the devs?!? It's like you guys are trying to put me out of a job! I mean, how am I going to be able to go around getting accused of trying to "speak for the devs" when they're so busy speaking for themselves!?

Kudos for increasing the community involvment in a manner easily accessable by all, the thing on Risia was alright, but not everyone goes there.

Responding here to a couple of posters....

I think things will probably end up evolving over time a bit. It's going to start off with me and probably a couple folks from Turbine. There'll probably be a "rotating cast" of devs, depending on what questions are going to be answered during the segment. Tolero's certainly welcome to be one of them! It'll start out with me "behind the mic" at least for technical reasons, but who knows what'll happen in the future!

That is correct. You should find out about this one next week if everything goes well.

Ask The Devs is planned to be a monthly segment. After all, I don't want to take too much of the devs' time.

Shaamis' show: "Ask Shaamis!" (c)(tm) has already been answering the most heated and debated questions for all of the caracters in stormreach, you can't do this!

Shaamis was even thinking about getting air time with the DDO Cast......

You guys stole mine........ I mean Shaamis' idea.....:P:p

seriously, it is a good idea.

Check out my thread in my sig, it's been out there for a while!

I dont want to be a downer on this, and dont get me wrong its a very good thing.

But I just cant get myself all excited about questions that will have answers along the lines of;

"Excellent question, I'll make a note of it"

or

"We are working on them and we should see them soon (TM)"

Seems every time we have a Dev discussion like this nothing new is told to us, or we're told soon.
It would be nice to have some definitive answers to some of the questions that are asked.

Thank you,

I am Bee.

I won't deny that there's a lot of "Soon" and "We're working on that" in dev discussions, but I don't think I've ever seen one that didn't have at least one or two interesting tidbits in it.

All I can say is I'm going to try to get good answers from them, and they have told me that they are committed to answering as much as they can.

Shaamis - of course I've seen your thread! I'd be happy to have you on the show sometime as well.

Here is a question for folks....

What would be better....

1. They simply don't address questions they can't give a substantial answer for
or
2. They address the question but honestly admit they can't give substantial information about it yet

I think ultimately #1 makes for a better show but you will have screaming hordes demanding that they respond to questions of the second sort only to be ultimately disapointed by the answers anyway.
