I started playing DDO in the beginning, like Feb or Mar of 2006. Some of you might remember me, I was an officer in the "The Lords of the Ebon Mists" guild. Our leader was Damax, you probably remember him, he used to **** around on the forums quite a bit. Anyways I played for about a year and then got deployed to Iraq in January 2007, well I am coming back to the U.S. in mid February. I am going am going to start playing again. I am going to be looking for a guild to join. I would prefer a guild with some players that have played with me before and with players that have been around since the beginning, if not thats fine. I will be playing a lot, everyday and then almost nonstop on the weekends, so I am game for lots of raiding and guild activities. My two main characters are Coricidin and Clev. Coricidin is lvl 13 Barbarian and Clev is a lvl 12 Sorcerer. I have access to the 32 pt builds, which may mean nothing now. I am going to need help getting back into the swing of the game. I am a good player and know how to use my characters. But I have been out of the loop for a year now and dont really have any idea whats gone on since. So any guilds interested in teaching an old dog new tricks, let me know. I will tell you some more facts about me so you will have an idea of the type of player I am. Yes, I am that guy that like to sit at the auction house and browse things for a long long time. I am a loot *****. My characters have high end items on them, but those items are from back in the day, so I dont know how "high end" they are anymore. I love talking **** to everyone I am playing with and love giving them a hard time. I dont mind lots and lots of "bad language," got used to it playing in LotEM. So yeah thats me, and let me know what you think.

Thanks for the replies. memnir, yes I remember the "waylaying." I'm originally from Xoriat, now on Thelanis. I don't recall ever grouping with you, but I'll lend a hand in getting you back in the groove. If you've been gone for a year, does that mean you've never seen Gianthold?

Hey man I remember running withya couple of times. You need to tell Damax to get his pansy ass back in the game so I can make fun of him some more. I did get to play a couple of times in August when I was home on leave, so I have use the new enhancement system.

For Valzoric, I have not ran Gianthold, how is it?

... wait... that's the OTHER type of posts

Well... actually, being serious, CAN I have your stuff :D :o

Ya see, I'm trying to collect every un-bound named item in this game, and I'm currently only missing ~16 of the ~376 or so items... most of them the random drop items or items that used to drop but were removed from the loot tables for whatever reason. So (being serious), if I can convince ya to look through those 5 dusty, old characters which are not yer mains, I'm hoping that you might have an item or two which I could trade from you. The list of the 16 can be found here:
http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=122815

So, welcome back! Now... Can I have yer stuff? :p

Yeah, sure as soon as I log in next month I will check up on this stuff. It probably wouldnt hurt if you reminded me too. From looking at your list I think I may be able to help you out with a couple of those. I am pretty sure I have those Dex gloves. But, I havent really played in a year so my memory may be foggy.

Hey Coricidin,

Welcome back. Never ran with ya, but I'm an officer in BVU, Memnir's guild. If he says you are cool and all, know that everyone in our guild (around 40 or so active players... I've lost count) will help you in any way we can.

The big raid now is the Stormreaver... much quicker and better loot than TS... +2 and +3 tomes, Vorpals, Banishers, Smiters, etc...

With a good team, it takes about 15 minutes on average.

Glad you are back safe and sound and looking to get back into things here in DDO land.

Just in time with MOD 6 coming out and the cap going to 16.

:)

lol you prolly ran with me back when I was in BOA haha well I am bvu and we can help a bit. you will notice since you left most of the elder ones are gone no tannk no gorm. they all left and stuff some of the older guys are still around. I follow memnir since he beat my pally to a pulp in pvp. now I am not saing for everyone to challenge memnir's alt (steeltoe) to pvp like he logs on at a certain time everynight (8pm). he has a lot of knowledge I aspire to have. I can help you get in the swing of things like the game AI kinda changed they no likey casters and clerics now

Hey man,

Welcome back to DDO. I just recently came back from an VERY extended break myself and had to learn a few new things. I ain't the best guy for loot but if you ever need a cleric gimme a shout and you got it. I also just wanted to give you a big {salute} for serving over in Iraq.

YOUR MY BOY BLUE!! :D

Casters and clerics are no where near nerfed. The new metamagic system pretty much lets them run with empower and maximize on 24/7. The AI has been tweaked several times but you can still rock the world easier now with a good caster than before.

01-16-2008, 09:55 PM
Ok, I guess I misunderstood an earlier post. Maybe they were talking about the red named, apparently they are immune to anything but DPS.

caliestro
01-17-2008, 03:12 PM
well you can't use tactics on bosses that are red named or purple named. we have overcome with our own tricks which make the monster about as sinister as a kobold who is lvl 1. then we also have the caster who basically is at a certain distance as he is spamming pk and finger of death. how many monsters do you think will get close enough to the caster. when all the other toons leveled up so did clerics they can handle themselves now. there are now what we call death priests. you step into there bubble and you basically die.

Coricidin
01-17-2008, 03:42 PM
Thats cool, for some reason I interpreted that casters and clerics were nerfed or something. Anyways, what spells are casters using nowadays? When I was playing a year ago, I was a PK and hold machine, I threw those out like they were candy.

they threw a nerf bat at some old tatics, you almost never see a soild ofg or ck anymore. web doesn;t last as long either.... right now at the lvl cap mages are pretty badd a@# DPS manchines, cone of cones firewalls, scorching rays, fire balls....instant kill are still poplular like pk and FOD (finger of death), as was said ealier arcane are very powerfull now, sorc's are just nasty....

melee's took a hit , trip and stunning blow don't work as well as they did and they don;t work all on red named bosses, although barbs are very popular right now...at lvl 11 and again at 14 barbs can take a enhancement that improves their crit range by 1 ...so a 14 lvl barb can crit with a great axe on a 17....pretty sick

caliestro
01-17-2008, 06:32 PM
yea casters have major dps I notice that sorcs get a lil more power than wizzys. finger of death firewall pk enervate and cone of cold is mainly used. for crowd control symbol of fear stunning and discoball are used a lot. for buffs blur greater heroism and crack (haste)

This information has me pretty excited, I love using my sorc, i feel that it is a pretty good build. I cant wait to try it out again. The thing you mentioned about no ck or ss, that sucks those were fun, especially for loot runs.

Don't allow yourself to get boxed in where casters are concerned. It's not only about waiting for your finger of death timer to reset. Cloud kill and solid fog are still useful, you just have to pay attention and not keep casting it when (for example) you have gnolls skating through the fog because they've been buffed with freedom of movement- or when the mob is immune to poison for the CK. That being said... Yeah, sorcs are downright nasty for being a machine-gun nuker. You get double mana from power and wizardry items (so long as you're pure sorc- it scales down as the percentage of multiclass increases) and you cast faster than wizards. Of course, you get less spells, and you can only change out one spell every 3 days, but if you know what you want, that's not an obstacle. I've been experimenting with a necromaner sorc, and I gotta tell you, she's a blast. She doesn't wade in and one-shot-kill everything but I find myself quite pleased with how she's shaping up.

They took firewall and alot of the AOE scrolls out awhile back nerfed the time they last but made the cool down timers faster so now instead of 20 weak firewall scrolls you have 20 max/emp/potency firewalls laid out killing everything faster and a main tactic nowadays. Cheesy I know but most people will expect it from your sorce.

Flesh to stone is another stape for my sorc. Nothing quite like creating a sculpture garden and letting all the tanks play in it.

Sounds like you should likely pick up a pair of puncturing weapons if you don't have already if you loved your holds. Flesh to Stone is great as it is an arcane killer(based on being a fort save, that they only resave every minute.)

The pit with a Guide is cool. The pit with no guide = fingernails on a chalkboard.

Again, thanks to everyone for all the responses and the PMs. I think if everyone that has promised to help me, gives me 100k plat I should be the richest person in the game. No jk, anyways. Is the economy still about the same it was a year ago, or has it changed dramitcally?
