I misread Brutous' thread and thought what I thought it was would make for bringing back good memories.

I think it would be neat to all share about our first/best/most memorable GMing experience

I GMed my first game while a patient at a long term residential treatment center(mental hospital) with a bunch of other patients. actually best campaign yet as we all needed something to take up our time so most of our free time was DnD. Resulted in large dungeouns, campaigns, etc as time wasn't an issue and we played every night almost. Then there was the time the Fighter challenged the Wizard to a duel starting 10 paces away..... the fighter got a fireball to the face by 5 paces and one to his corpse at 5. It was a good first GMing experience. Much better than my other ones.

My first DMing experience was in '76 when I had the original little tan booklets and created a dungeon called Castle Anthrax. It was a stereotypical first timer dungeon with a lot of mistakes and bad ideas but it grew and evolved over time.

My first DM'ing campaign (and the first time any of us ever wanted to play) We had basically found some books at a yardsale with some level 3 campaigns. Considering we had no other monster list but those level 3's, I had all my friends autolevel to 3 because we all thoguht there was no way a 1 could take a 3.

Ended up making a town where they held a carnival. On the party's arrival, we spent about 3 hours just messing around playing the games I made and maybe 10 minutes on the actual attack I planned near the end of the night because the toons were so powerful. Live and learn though. We ended up getting the right materials and books about a week later and redid everything.
