Maybe it's me, but I assumed if you took the Feat Quicken that the cooldown timers would be halved, but that is not the case. Since they shortened the casting time already for alot of spells, isn't Quicken pretty much a wasted Feat if one took it? To me, it's only value is if it sped up the cooldown timer. The only real benefit is that you don't make a Concentration check when casting with it active, but if that's the only real use, they should change the name of the Feat....
Thoughts?

Thoughts? You are correct, the cooldown time remains the same.
Quicken rules for clerics, I don't know how I ever lived without it.

I hadn't thought it would cut cooldown time. If it did, I'd think it would be considered mandatory on most builds, esp. for wizards.
Cutting casting time and negating concentration checks comes into play heavily during elite end boss battles, and any other super-threatening points in the game (like the hill battle in Stormcleave). Since these are the most critical battles in the game, and Quicken can mean the difference between success or wipe during these battles, I definitely wouldn't say it is a waste.

Thoughts?Quicken halves the time it takes to cast the spell and makes casting uninterruptable. It does make casting quicker, so I have no problems with the name.
An interesting side note: the metamagic feat should not be available to Sorcs as their magic is spontaneous (represented by fast casting in DDO).
Special
This feat can’t be applied to any spell cast spontaneously (including sorcerer spells, bard spells, and cleric or druid spells cast spontaneously), since applying a metamagic feat to a spontaneously cast spell automatically increases the casting time to a full-round action.

Actually, it was for my Cleric that I was considering it. I thought I would be able to spam cures without having to switch between Cure Light, Cure Mod, Cure Serious, etc.. all the time. I thought I could just spam one of them, therefore saving me spell points... Granted my Cleric is only level 6 now, but is the casting time for the higher level cure mass spells and heal long enough that Quicken does make more sense?

Quicken rocks for Heal, cutting it to 1 second (like CurexWounds).

Cool, thanks. I guess that was really what I was going after. :o

Just last night I was running a Velah run and while we were doin it on hard we had 3 clerics (mine being one of them) I have Quicken on always and during the run up to the dragon and the spamming of mass cures we still went down without completing and missed out on raid loot. Looking at the Combat log showed that I was the only cleric actually healiing, as it turns out the other clerics did not have quicken and failed there concentration checks 3 times in a row. I absolutely love Quicken and can't seem to figure out why some don't take it if they don't put points in concentration.

I guess that is why I've held off on getting it for my cleric, since I invested all my skill points in Concentration it would seem a little bit like a waste. But I guess it makes sense to say that Quicken won't be on all the time, and the higher Concentration would still be of use in more normal battles. I am at 11 now on my cleric, so I will almost certainly get it at either 12 or 15.

It also there are times when no matter were you are in a battle you are going to get hit. Quicken makes it so you actully get your spell off while taking damage. I personaly didn't take the spell untill I hit the higher levels, which is were I noticed I was failing my con checks more. I don't have it always on, but when I know I have to get a Heal off or a mass cure spell off I do turn it on. I did put max points skill points into my con. In the higher lvls even with a +10 item (haven't found anything bigger yet) I still fail my con ckecks.

Quicken was poorly implimented... it should turn a spell into a free action so that you in fact should be able to cast-cast in a single standard cool down timer... Shame really..

Don't forget halving the casting time of Blade Barrier too.

They could accomplish this by making it so Quicken doesn't affect the cooldown of the spell your casting but eliminates the "all spells" cooldown that casting a spell gives.
