First, how do I do it... The short answer is: Not very consistently. Lol. But I want to see how many different methods people are using. My successes have used some or all of the following:
FoM, Blur, Displacement, Cold Resist, Fire Resist, Greater Hero
Spiked boots (because Freedom of Movement will get debuffed by the Giant if anything goes wrong over there)
Recast Freedom of movement when it is debuffed.
Good communication #1 Shout if the giant does his comet fall motion, because your friend might be preoccupied with something else.
Good communication #2 Shout if you need anything else too... .
Good communication #3 Radio Silence if you don't need anything... Nothing more frustrating than a help request getting drowned out by something insubstantial.Then...
One caster with support of one cleric leading the dragon around the pillar through firewalls, etc.
One main tank on the giant, with all others supporting him.
NOTE: Tank MUST keep the giant away from the dragon... Ideally facing away so he won't debuff the caster.
One of the supporting people on the giant needs to be the leader coordinating things... Watch the hit points of the giant and dragon, as well as watching for the comet fall signs.
Start being really careful to keep giant and dragon HP in line as of about 5%, but don't go for the kill until they are near a sliver.Anyone have any other methods that have worked? Any tweaks to this one?

With difficulty, this fight isn't easy even on normal.
One person (buffed to the max) hits the Dragon a few times with either melee or spells, and takes the Dragon far away from the giant. Toast the giant like mad until he's at 20%hp or so (dragon still at 75-95%).
Then, bring them together, and let the party sorcs 'go nova' with firewalls. Toasty!

Arcane version of circle strafe: arcane gets FOM, casts a firewall on the dragon and circles him, keeping him in the firewall. Throw scorching rays if bored. Call % hp's remaining. Stack firewalls if necessary.
Melee spanks the giant like the bad little puppy that he is, calling out cometfalls. Pin him if possible, since he doesn't like getting whipped. Answer dragon's % hp's remaining with giant % hp's remaining.
Cleric stands in between and keeps the red bars full.
If someone besides the cleric can do it, assign someone to recast FoM as needed.

I see more and more people using casters to do the main damage in here, and it can work, but it can also be a disaster quickly. Prefer to do it with 3 melees, 1 caster and 2 clerics. Get your best DPS tank on the Giant - you definitely want the spiked boots, I hate chasing this fool, usually chase him over toward the blue wall so he can't run away anymore. Need a cleric to heal this guy. Two more tanks on the dragon, with a cleric to heal (this cleric will have a tougher job, usually). Agree that the giant/dragon need to be kept far away from each other. The caster's job is to use either a non-maximized firewall or preferably scorching ray to help drop the dragon - key to this is not doing so much damage that you draw aggro! If it's the giant going down slower, you can scorching ray him as well. Or send the dragon fighter w/out aggro over to assist on the giant. I guess I just prefer to take 'em down in a slower, controlled fashion. Success rate should be close to 100% if your melee does good damage.

Have done this way and the other both are good methods but the OP way as long as good communication is there is the easiest.
On my sorce or wiz can solo the dragon without using any safe spots and taking minimal damage it is all in the timing. I watch the health of dragon as everyone else is on giant when dragon hits 20-5% left I will kite the dragon around taking no or very little damage at all he does get a lucky shot here and there. Once giant at 5% percent one scorching ray and if needed fireball they both drop at same time.
In my OP it is all in the communication that your party has.
Solo castered the dragon on elite I didn't die and we didn't wipe went perfect(5 Man party too no wipes did all 3 on elite). It is All in the communication.
