I hate to break it to you but the only places you can have protection items are on cloaks, rings, and necklaces.

There's always the named loot Chaos Manacles that you get from Delera's as an end reward - it is only +4, however.

I suppose it's possible that this might be modifiable after the next module.

I have a sacred neck of prot 5 I would trade for the cloak.
