Are you running on Windows?

Ah-ha! We have found the weakest link in the security chain! Turn off your computer before you infect the rest of us!

you may have gotten a corrupt download, never seen that happen before?

I would uninstall, re-download and re-install. Also, make sure your downloading the US version. I remember seeing a post before where the person accidentally downloaded the European version.

To a point, I had problems until I changed a few settings. I still can't get a mic to work though.

I have heard the Vista security settings disallow DDO from working if it's placed in the Program Files folder.

I have mic problems too :( I was told to reinstall DDO. ZOMG!

I love how the word "Hacked" gets thrown around here. Half don't even know what it means. Honestly, why would someone waste their time "Hacking" the DDO install? On top of "Hacking" the program, they have to "Hack" their way into Turbines systems, and replace a 5 GIG file, with one they created. [eaten by cube]
EDIT:

Wow, the guy below me, kudo's to you, I like your's better than mine lmfao...

No, the game is not hacked. May I introduce you to this wonderful thing called a Google Internet Search (referred to as a GIS by some). If you have the attention span to browse through the various links it brings up, you will find this gem on the second page of search results: http://turbine.fuzeqna.com/ddo.support/consumer/kbdetail.asp?kbid=3867&p=t

If you happen to lack the ability to click the link I will paste it here for you:

Dndlauncher error CLR Error 80004005

If you are receiving this error message, please right click on your DDO shortcut and then left click on properties. Click the compatability
tab at the top. If the check box underneath Compatibility Mode is checked please uncheck it and then click Apply and then Okay. This should correct the error.

If it does not correct the error, the core game files in your DDO installation may be corrupted. You may need to reinstall DDO.

It sounds to me (with the checking for existing files errors) that you have an incomplete or corrupt download.

EDIT: I would recommend using the multiple download version for the smaller file sizes, located here: http://turbine.fuzeqna.com/ddo.support/consumer/kbdetail.asp?kbid=4305

It would still be better to use a download manager either way, but the smaller files are more reliable on direct download. /EDIT

I don't know where you would get the idea that a major mmorpg company like Turbine would have a hacked download out and available for the masses would come from. Of course you may not be very computer savvy or experienced in the world of online gaming, which is fine, just be aware that there are resources out there that you can use to help yourself.

Enjoy the game, I hear Argo is a great server to play on give it a shot.

Vista in general = teh suck

All my Windows pcs will be running XP until a suitable working Service Pack is released for Vista, even then I may just stick with XP as I have no current need to upgrade. MS needs to get DX10 performing at least as well as DX9 before I even think of switching.

Well, that's spiffy. You should post your solution so anyone else new to the game can fix it the same way, eh?

Anyway welcome to ddo! Hope you enjoy it, like I said try the Argo server good people over there. Yeah. Anyway... How long did you play WoW for?

This is just how i am around these kinds of things even windows is not perfect it anoys me to death with blue screen's death about absoulutly nothing. It's kinda obvious by now that you only partially get my poke. 99.9% of us are running Windows, since it's the only platform DDO supports.

Glad to hear you solved the problem. I know it can be frustrating, but just to warn ya, calling someone an idiot on these forums is a no-no... I know this from personal experience. I don't mind (after all, I was playing with you when you were frustrated, what would one expect?), but others might... so just be careful in the future.

I dont need to post a solution because there already is one posted by me what is the point in another one the problem came from the data file problem.

I've re-installed twice. Not sure where it's located though I just let it default. If it is in the programs files folder then it does in fact work.
