Today my sub expired, cool went to renew it and it shows $29.97 for a 3month block, excellent but when I was going to hit submit it shows $41.xx for a 3 month block.. which is it Turbine, it shows D&D in the list for the offer, I waited several hours for online accounts to actually be online but they never came on, I waited on the phone for ages but they never answered.
Smells like bait and switch, advertise the price at $29.97 then you switch it for $41.xx at the checkout, not nice you know.

I know right now they are offering a special for LotRO, if you sign up before 1/31/2008 for 3 month blocks it is only $29.97 (wonder what the people who signed up for 14.99 feel about that?), do not know if they are offering it for DDO

in the banner ad it shows LOTRO, AC and D&D.The 3 game banner ad is for the 'Refer a Friend' program (here (https://myaccount.turbine.com/)). LotRO is the only one with the pricing special (below).

The 3 game banner ad is for the 'Refer a Friend' program (here (https://myaccount.turbine.com/)). LotRO is the only one with the pricing special (below).
The ad is mis-leading. The pricing banner is directly below a banner with all 3 games. By picture alone you could infer a LOTR theme in the pricing banner but it is not clear from the ad that "means" the pricing is for LOTR only. Further, it says terms and conditions in the pricing banner but there is no link where it could be quickly disclosed. The top banner has a terms and conditions link but it is for the refer a friend program.
This is a poor set-up and in some states could be considered mis-leading and fodder for a cause of action. I don't think the Elliot Spitzers of the world will find enough money in this one to make much a squabble about though. ;)

It just shows gollum.

This is indeed misleading, in fact, the whole thing is misleading. My wife and I trialed for 10 days and decided we wanted to play. So, looking around, we saw the banner stating that there was a special for $29.99 for 3 months, so we went to download. Well, to our chagrin, it's $19.99 just for the "official" download (each) and over $41 each for a 3 month subscription, bringing the grand total to over $122. Before trying to actualize the account, it doesn't mention the "download" fee. At this point, it's looking like we'll only activate one account, because my wife doesn't want to pay that, so she just won't play. Also, it's BS that Turbine can't get a person in on weekends to man a phoneline. The links trying to navigate around all this are misleading and bulky. Turbine is losing another account due to this, and now I remember why we stopped playing Asheron's Call...

I understand your frustration. The banners on their account page aren't very user friendly. I do hope that you'll stay with the game as we can always use new players...
Some additional information that's also not clearly written out...
The digital purchase also pays for your first month of game play.
You won't be charged for your second month of subscription (whatever you told them your plan was going to be) until after the initial month of play expires.
You can change your subscription plan at any point prior to it being renewed.
If you wish to pay the 9.99 per month fee it is possible, but you'll need to subscribe for a full year. The extended plan discounts the base price by 20%. (I use this option for myself, and am getting ready to pay out for my wife as well)
Really hope to see both you and your wife in game. Between the new Mod coming this month and next months anniversary update there's some really good thing happening here.
