All-Ranger Velah kill

So last night we got a bunch of members of Ironwolf and Band of the SHifting Sands (and I'm sure a few other guilds were represented - gotta get that info up here).

9 pure rangers of levels varying from 12-14 (maybe lower on some).
2 Ranger12/Fighter2
1 Ranger9/Rogue3/Fighter2

1 dead dragon and no one died on Part 6.

We took a screenie of the run somewhere. I should get Pwesiela to post it here.

Next time we have to up the difficulty :)

So how many had Greater Dragon bane bows? Get a whole bunch of manyshots off at once and that could be one ex dragon pretty fast I suspect. I know my Ranger can see the Dragons in the Tor taking some nice hits while doing that. (Especially on the white since I do not have to try and chase it around...)

I don't recall the actual numbers. Several had Greater Dragon Bane Arrows or Bows. We all basically stood in front of her and engaged Manyshot and let the arrows fly.

I'm a wimpy "range"-r. I have lame Deneith Sturdy Arrows and the Silver Bow. Time to hit the Auction House, I guess :)

Last night I also did a dragon run on Thelanis - I did see other people going in an out, maybe it was your group! Anywho - I was the only full ranger level 12 and it was up to me in the long run. a couple people died except for me, clerics and 3 fighters I think. I didn't take 1 pt of damage and had my butt against the gate and she never wiped near me. I was using a Bow of the Elements (ICE) min level 12 (+5 icyburst with precision) and let my 3 arrow multi shot do it. The fighter was almost dead and BOOM she's down. He got the kill not me, but it's always handy to have that ranger now isn't it? No delving suits dropped though :( It was a shield and the ring (+4 cha and +2 resist I think)

Not really, most good players know rangers rock, they just hate dealing with the misinformed masses. I rarely pug my rangers or my bards for that very reason.

We had a blast and I'm certain we'll be organizing more of these in the future. We need to improve on our kill time.

The twelve of us took a few steps off the platform and turned on Manyshot almost in unison. Think of the scene in Gladiator with the Roman archers unloading at the beginning of the film.

We ranged her without a death. All the damage you see on us is coming from her breath and/or wing buffetting.

The way Pwesiela set up the LFM was to announce it several hours ahead of time in an LFM. He originally had the LFM listed for all classes so everyone could see it, but I was mean and told him to only list the ranger icon.

In retrospect, I should have probably listened to him.

I just liked seeing the LFM for VoN6 with only the ranger icon showing.

In the future, look for such LFMs from Pwesiela of Ironwolf or just send a tell to anyone in Ironwolf asking about the next all-ranger run.

Band of the SHifting Sands was also prominent in the run, so they might also be interested. I know we had some rangers from other huilds as well or some nonguilded ones. I am bad at remembering and apologize for this.

We did announce it in advance a bit and we had at least 5 rangers just from Ironwolf which helped our numbers a lot.

Didn't take too long to fill the last few spots though ...

I recall having excellent all Ranger runs some time ago in places like Irestone and Gwylans on Sarlona. No deaths in either IIRC. Nothing ever got close to the party.

Poor Velah, all those nasty piercing hurty things, all at once. Must have been a sight watching her health bar drop like that.

A couple of rangers from Ironwolf actually did the VoN's as an all-ranger group too.

I know I need to get Dixx through them again as I don't want to miss another all-ranger run.

I'm also contemplating doing this with other classes.

All-Rogue MIGHT be able to do it. All-Cleric should be easy. I have a Bard too, but that would seem a bit pointless.

Back in DAOC, I saw all ranged groups leveling like mad. Allways wondered why that doesn't happen much in DDO. And with the changes to range the all Ranged group will be awesome.

Hey - tonight I'm going to do the vons on Thelanis about midnight pst when I get home from work - if anyone wants to do it, I'll be doing 11-14 and thinking about making it all ranger ;)



Look up Aurie any time for the vons - I don't need the delving suit but this has become my fav quest for my ranger
