ok i hav been runnign the abbot raid all day in many diffrent groups. the issue in each group is that we cant finish it. no one knows how to do the puzzle or to stop his inferno strike. has any one done the raid after the latest update and beat him? if so could you walk me through the steps after the puzzles are finished and lets talk about how to do those puzzles. i have been teleported to the astroids puzzle and failed, 2 reasons why, i did not know what to do with th e rock right away took me a sec and it wa a little late and the second reason why we failed that puzzle is becuse the other person had no clue what to do. i have not done the ice beerg room or the other room which no one talks about. so what do i do i would love to put a good group together lets say friday night at 8pm central time for an abbot raid with people who know or feel confident on solving these darn raid.
Ran it three times so far .. failed each time. :(
On one instance, I got to the asteroid room. You pick up one of the rocks in the room and equip it in your hand slot like a weapon, like a throwing weapon. You then just use the aim and click to 'shoot' a rock at the incoming asteroid to destroy it. I blew away about 6 before one came practically straight down at me and killed me.
Another instance, I got to iceberg room. Two wands there, two people teleported there. Each one picks up a wand, first casts into the water to make an iceberg, they both jump on it, waits a few seconds I guess, then the second person casts another berg, etc, until you get across. As one person who came with me was in the middle of a TK from the Abbot, he went immediately into the juice and died. I picked up both wands to see if I could use one and then the other, made no difference, both on the same cool down timer. I eventually just fell in the water after the berg melted. I'd have timed how long they last if I had the mindset at the time, but I'd never been there before.

Just ran it a coupleof times, one idea is that the cold version of fire sheild might help with help with the inferno, there is a couple seconds time delay before the inferno is released. Cast it on the clerics so that they can survive to rez people.

I had firestorm greeves, fire shield up, fire resist and pro and still couldn't quicken, heal myself through 1 inferno on normal. Maybe with several clerics casting mass heals, but a couple of us doing it wasn't enough. I expect you'll need to finish the ice flow puzzle and get yourself off the main platform when he infernos. Mainly though, it's a good quest to rack up some XP debt. The puzzles are easier now though, so I expect someone to complete before too long.

its the most unpug friendly quest ever....you get 11 people you know, that understand what to do...it takes 1 who doesnt and the entire quest is death.... at least its something diff to do....but there are so many places things will go wrong frustration sets in before you can keep your 12 together long enough to get a good total group run...maybe on the weekend when more guildies are on......still the goggle room is Helen Keller 1-2 seconds of voice delay H*LL
The only puzzle my guild couldn't complete before the changes was the goggle one with the moving platforms. And since according to my reading of the release notes that puzzle has been made easier on normal I assume it won't take long before we can complete that one.
Also about the inferno you are just gonna have to finish the ice puzzle if you want to live through that.

yes i was in the helen keller room and it did slow down probably 50%...its just the delay of voice directions that is killing us....if it gets mapped in a pattern....that pattern getting out will help a well grouped team

Good to see you making progress. I hope you successfully beat it soon. You've definitely put the work in to earn that honor.

Helen Keller room, I hope you don't mind but I am so gonna use that term now :D. About 50% huh? I hope that will be enough because the way it used to be was impossible. At one time we had 2 roommates in the guild who had their computer monitors side by side and they still couldn't do that puzzle.

the only problem with the Helen Keller room is .....you gotta do it both directions i mean brutal...I dont know if I could make the path back and forth reliably with the goggles on if i was the runner... he we have a husband wife combo ...one running a laptop...so they could do that as well..but my god....the % chance of the 2 of you or them both ported to the same location is extremely low...and no i am not doing the math:D ......jrp<helen keller room

i would like to take this chance to thank Turbine for listening about raid toughness!
thanks Turbine, youve went from a 2year old's understanding of raid development (reaver) to insane rocket science raid development!
wooot!
wait, thats giving these guys too much credit, here let me try again.......
Since we beat all your other raids within a matter of hours of going live, Thank you for making this raid just out of the reach of about 85% of your player base!
Way to go Turbine for giving us a raid that will surely keep customers playing your game and not getting the most of us frustrated or not interested by watching some of the best gamers DDO has getting frustrated :)
Players, we're gonna need to go ahead and move you downstairs into storage B. We have some new people coming in, and we need all the space we can get. So if you could just go ahead and pack up your stuff and move it down there, that would be terrific, OK? (best lumbergh voice)

We had puzzles of widely different complexity - we had the Ice Wand Island bug out after 4 seconds (thanks for that wipe) - we had wand misfires, lag spikes, spells not registering (still), and ps - big thanks for fixing the goggles bug
This quest has horrible design with absolutely no options. If you insist on puzzles - why we can't have all 12 (you know everyone gets to play) attempt asteroids at 75% (shrine), ice islands at 50% (shrine), and magic squares at 25% (shrine) with each successfully solved reducing the Abbot's power is beyond me. The raid should progress (based on puzzle solving) from near impossible (perhaps only by level 20s) for no puzzles solved to easy (by pretty much any party) for 18 puzzles solved rather than the current rediculous all or nothing binary setup :(
So - sorry - still no screenies of the new loot or any real plan on how to get any :( :( :( :(
PS: I just have to gripe about this - the spawning of a wave of undead ALWAYS causes a lag - that is unacceptable when we are trying to do the puzzles (in particular Magic Squares but also the other two) - UNACCEPTABLE !!!

well i understand that turbine wants to challange us and they should, but the issue is that you need a full group of the top players in this raid to even think about solving this. ran another group we did the raid 6 times just not ot finish it but to figure out he puzzles and so everyone can have a crack at it. here is a suggestion for hard puzzles, be creative with practicle means of solving. lers do puzzles as a group like the reaver we all ar pretty much there working on it. i understand they dont want a way to losve the puzzle useing some other programe like the reaver puzzle solver. how about a freaking maze with monsters in it that changes every time you inter the quest, see its doable and ther eis now way of fully maping it but so to keep it even let 6 party members travel to the puzzle so the lonly wizwith no mana is stuck in a maze with monsters in it, night as well recall and give up. my pally has 306 hp and the inferno does 266 on avrage that is just not right to clerics that dont put con in. has anyone tried using con of cold, niacs, chilling touch, or outluks freezing sphere to nullify that affect?

I did the ice room with another guildie last night and it was a cake walk. You start with two wands, one for each of you, then time it nicely and you make it to the other platform at the end with TWO NEW and FRESH wands to take into the portal.

and yes ice and asteroids seem doable with a constant group....Helen Keller will spoil the party

What about the titan raid, only one group managed to be it before they made it easier. That was about 2 months or so after it went live.

If you're refering to us being the one that beat it, it's worse than that. We finished only because a well meaning dev came in and unstuck the Titan for us effectively finishing it successfully for us. I expect though that others may have been able to avoid the bugs and finish successfully w/o divine intervention.

Can someone refresh my memory here? I thought it was announced that Bones Brigade (name?) was the guild that was first to successfully complete the Titan on any world? I do remember there was some kind of reward involved...

Yes, it was BCB, and the reward was pride ;)
Never heard of Legion beating it earlier, but if it was thanks to a dev/GM, I guess it was not made public.

Well I actually came pretty close last night. We got all the asteroids done, and also were about three jumps away with the ice room, but then a wand shot straight up for no reason and everyone died.
I'd really like it if when making a quest that has so little margin for error, they actually put some work into making it NOT buggy. At least as much work as they put into making it not fun.
Anyway, some tips to help get it done:
Asteroids, stand on opposite sides of the platform FACING EACHOTHER. If you face the other player your combined line of sight is much better, and if you're on the edge it will take more than one asteroid to knock you off.
Ice is honestly pretty easy when the wand decides not to bug out. Turning on the 'Show cooldowns' UI setting will help with this one, however.
Helen Keller, you need to watch for a pattern, and where the run is possible have the person line up with that row. From there you can either say 'Stop, Go, Stop, Go', or, alternatively, you can move along the hallway yourself, lined up with the block they're on. When you stop they stop, and when you move, they move. This is trickier, but better for people without voice who would otherwise ruin the quest.
Because several people have asked me in game what I mean by better line of sight, I've decided to use paint and show you what I mean:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/DrUnK3n_PaNdA/Asteroids.jpg
Green dot: Camera
Red line: Person one
Blue line: Person two
So, as you can see if you're facing each other, you don't have as much space to cover and there's no real blind spot, also, the camera isn't blocked by the other person, or your own model when you're trying to target asteroids coming in from higher up.
Edit: And just a while ago it sent me into the asteroids room with a paralyzed party member, meaning the party wipes... yeah... some effort in making the quest doable would have been nice.

We did beat it but not first. Dev helped us get the guy unstuck which caused quite a stir on Xoriat.
