Okay, so I've been using the Spam selection on the New Ticket form religiously lately in the hope that it would have some effect. Here's what I found today :(

I received a spam message from a farming site while I was tooling around the harbor. I was at the mailbox and what do I see is the sending culprit him/herself! 'Cool' I say to myself - I can report him and get him booted in the middle of sending stuff - I want to see this.'

I file a report, go about my business for a few minutes and get the offline email saying that my ticket has been closed. I run back by the mailbox and the b***tard is still there!

+Sparker, can you or someone else tell us how my ticket can be closed when the toon who sent me the spam mail is still online and (presumably) sending more mail?

I know I have seen alot of different threads like this and it just occured to me that we do not know what Turbine does when we send in an in game SPAM report.

Does it say that the person who is acused is banned then and there?
Or does Turbine give them warnings before booting them?

Are the farmers getting smarter and when Turbine gives them a warning do they stop for a bit and just take names for a little while until the suspision of wrongdoing has passed? Do they get 1-2-3 strikes before being banned?

Maybe he was not automatically banned on the spot cause he was on strike 1 or 2?

Unfortunately I don't think we will ever know how they handle the whole Spamming and plat farmer issue...

This is in no way against the OP, more a general QFT.

I think they aren't banned straight away as Turbine will investigate their account and try to link them to any other account so they can ban in bulk rather then just individuals.
Unfortunately we won't get to much info from Turbine, as like a police investigation they mut be careful what they release so they don't give to much info away to the bad guys.

I feel for you and understand your frustration. You do the right thing by taking a moment of your time to do the right thing yet you see the person commiting the offense to you and other players, still standing at that mailbox for hours after you report them. Or the worse is seeing this happen and the GM closed your ticket with them still on. Frustrating! But...we don't know all that the GM's are really doing. Nor should they tell us. In telling us, they tell the plat spammers what to avoid and how to work around not getting banned. So I personally understand what the GM's are doing. Sometimes, too much information IS a bad thing.

Please keep turning them in, do not worry so much if you feel like you are being ignored. If you do the right thing, that is its own reward. If you were to give in and just ignore them like some have foolishly suggested then its the plat sellers who win.

I do have a suggestion for the Dev's and GM's. We understand you all don't give out what you are doing or plan to do with any particular spammer or farmer to us players. At least give us who turn them in a wink or a nod, letting us know in an indirect way we are not being ignored and that you are taking care of the matter. It would do alot to keep players from getting discouraged like the OP to this thread and others when it comes to turning in spammers. Does this sound fair Dev's and GM's?

i did about 15 tickets(either gameplay or using spam reports) yesterday about people I found still on and who I received spams from, as I was standing in front them when I got the spams 3 at a time. 20 minutes later they were still there spaming me for the 2nd time with 3 spams at a time.
