Hey guys I was cubed today!
Although it makes me kind of sad, now my list of "want to do's" in the DDO is one less. :(
Oh well if this one can come true then that means that I have still have a chance at the other 3. :)

Hmm, whats cubed?
The Gelatinous Cube is the overall forum moderator. From what I've read in the past, it's not always the same turbine employee using the cube login.
So when someone talks about being "cubed" it means that somewhere, they have gotten one of their posts "eaten by the cube" and/or deleted. Sometimes with accompanying "infraction points" handed out, and sometimes not.

Okay I wasn't technically "cubed" but it was close enough for me to check it off my listen of things to accomplish in DDO.
I only had a part of the post edited and I think that a full 'cubing' should be the closing of the whole thread.

I thought he already did?
Or did he give up that futile struggle?

I've been partially cubed as you have... but its even more fun when the cube fully digests your post and awards you points towards your pink pony and butterfly forum skin. Or the ultimate cubing where the entire thread is eaten, leaving no trace behind except any links you have that now lead to "this thread is currently not available"

I can't imagine that the cube will be pleased that folks are discussing disciplinary action. For shame! *swats with rolled up newspaper* You know better.

Fearing the thing so much that you don't even mention it gives it power.
On a more pertinent note, at some point in time some disciplinarian is going to become overzealous. While these forums may not be "free" in the libertarian sense, they are still bastions of the people to express things, in the game, that they view as unfair.
Maybe they are, and maybe they aren't. Often the best way for someone to realize they are overreacting is for their fellow players to say it. Sometimes the only way for a moderator to know when they are being too harsh is when enough of an outcry is sounded.
If all people involved sat and discussed things reasonably, before initiating action, then we wouldn't have that many huge problems.
Most of the people, in this game and in these forums, are among the most lucid and intelligent I have ever known within an online community. I don't know if it's time for shock and indignation about a forum post that doesn't even seem to come near discussing "actual" disciplinary action, let alone something actually harmful to peace or morale.
Maybe you were just being cheeky. If so, carry on :D

*tests pie, still not ready, back in the oven it goes*
Ultimately it was a gentle reminder for new comers who might come across the thread of:
Forum Guidelines: 16. We do not discuss disciplinary actions taken against members either with other members or on the forums, and we ask that you do not either. Any threads or posts that mention infractions/bans etc. will be removed and might result in further disciplinary action.
Forum Guidelines: 13. Do not re-post or quote any materials which violate the Forum Guidelines. This includes re-posting a thread or topic which has been previously closed by the moderators.
The last thing I would want is for a forum user who might be new to see the thread and mistakenly cross into the territory of the above forum guidelines. There are vast complications that arise from doing such behavior. If there was a problem with the thread/post however, either the offending post would be closed/removed by one of us, or the cube would have its very own thanksgiving feast. ^^

I guess it's the Liberal in me, but I have to ask, why? I understand getting rid of people complaining annoyingly ("omg modz suk ur ghey cube y u give me points!?") but if it's a simple, "Yeah, I got points for mentioning that, so you should edit your post," would that warrant action? Because I've always wondered about that.
Anyway...
pie is good. What flavor?

would it be in bad taste to say "pudding" or "gelatin" pie?
Sometimes the consequences of speaking of that which must not be spoken are beyond what we expect.
"But if we talk of those you do not speak, are we not speaking of that which we do not talk?"

Yea verily! is it better to have been cubed in part than to never have been cubed at all?
Off topic question: If the thread had involved vampirism (lichism?) would it have been cube-staked?

Since my reply this morning was lost to the data gods I'll try to make a quick recap.
I want the forum mods to be Lawful Good which equals them following rules but using fairness, common sense, and thought before moderating each thread/post.
I do not want the forum mods to be Lawful Evil which equals a strict enforcement of rules without thought or compassion and done with intimidation and fear ("don't saying anything about us moderating your post or we'll come back and beat you again!").
I thought it was nice that Tolero popped in and commented on this thread but I'd be damned if I'm getting intimidated into not saying anything when it is clear that this is a post in jest, that I wasn't complaining, that I wasn't yelling at GC for his moderation of the post, etc. I expect the mods to use some common sense, intelligence, and reading comprehension in the execution of their job.
And a threat veiled in sweetness and sugar is still a threat. I don't take kindly to them.
Now Tolero, even though it's past Thanksgiving, I'd like a piece of pie please. :)
