View Full Version : Rage Usage Question

Do I really need to take Extra Rage and Extend Rage Enhancements ???
It seems that I typically only use Rage once per quest and thats on the end boss. Otherwise I just use clickies. I just can't take the Fatigue from using Rage.
How do you deal with the Fatigue if you use Rage multiple times in a quest ?
The main fights never seem to last too long that an un-extended Rage can't get it done.
I'm just looking at ways to free up APs to use on other items.

Buy lesser restore pots to remove rage fatigue.
I haven't brought a barb higher than level 10 (pre mod 2), and I deleted him. However, I would think that you will get enough rage clickies by the time you are higher levels. Although the extend rage might not be a bad line to go down, I am not sure if I'd do that either when you get to a higher level I think you can stay raged for a longer duration anyway.

Yep, lesser restore potions are your friend. I keep a stack of them hotbar’d right next to my rage/dismiss rage buttons.
As for the Extra & Extend Rage feats, I love them. I’m working on getting the last rank of Extra Rage, which would give me 7 rages at level 13. Each rage lasts 2:45, giving me just over 19 minutes of steady rage.
If the quest takes longer than that to complete, there will generally be a shrine in there to restock your rage quota.
Now, at the lower levels, I too generally didn’t use my rages until I knew we had a named/boss fight coming up shortly. I went ahead and spent the points in these anyway, then almost seemingly by magic they started lasting long enough with enough of a quantity to keep rage rolling along all the time.
Now, I can’t imagine being inside a quest killing and not being raged out.

Put all yer AP's into rage, rage always, rage as much as possible.
Get yerself lesser restore clickies (saves on pots.)
Get yerself a huge massive greataxe.
Have a nice day.

My barb can rage for 24 min strait, that gets me from shrine to shrine. And thats done without counting extra con from rage pots and madstone rages they can get you a couple more min.
The only reason to play a barb over a fighter is rage, use it or roll a fighter.

agreed, rage or fighter.. your choice, lesser restore pots are what? 350 gold each? 3500 plat for a stack of 100? which usually gets you through a long time

I managed to pick up a few lesser restore clickies from the AH...works great and doesn't cost as much as the pots.

They only work until you get madstone rages and bloodrages going. They both stop you from using clickys, but not pots. Then again by the time you get all that stuff 2 str really dosen't make much difference.

All rages stop you from using both clickies and pots. The OP, like the rest of us, use them after raging to
combat fatigue caused by raging.
Oh and dont get me started on lesser restore pots/clickies while raging.

btw, im curious - how'd you guys get a vendor that is different then the other servers?

Regarding raging, clickies, and pots - madstone rage, barbarian rage, and bloodrage* all hinder the usage of clickies, wands, scrolls, spells, and a few select potions such as lesser restoration. Most potions can be used while raging.
The rage spell does not hinder anything but AC.
* - I'm not 100% sure on the bloodrage as I don't have one myself, if I'm wrong about that rage, please correct me

The nice thing about dismiss rage is that it allows you to hit your clickies and restore pots before "the big fight". :)
This is what I normaly do when my rage is about to wear off.
dismiss - lesser restore pot - rage clickie - rage again
When madstone rage is active you can't hit clickies or restore pots and madstone can't be dismissed :(
If you time it right you might be able to get madstone and barbarian rage to wear off at the same time.
Or you could roll a warforged. I think they are immune to fatigue.

That's exactly right, you can still use clickies after a rage spell or drinking a rage pot

I would think that ideally you would want 15 mins or so of total rage time, or about enough to hit a shrine. If you arent raging you are a feat-less fighter.
Which brings up my question, if you start with a low CON because you assume it will come through enhancements, will you regret it and have low rage times? Has anyone run into this problem? What do you think the cutoff should be or do you even worry about it? I'm pondering this build that could use some stat points elsewhere so Im at 15 but ideally would start at 13 or even 12. But I need to rage endlessly, I think short rages would get annoying.

You only lose 6 seconds per 2 pts of lower CON *2 for Extend Rage IV. So 12-48 seconds loss per rage for 2-8 lower CON score.
