This morning i got an email from Turbine saying that there was a request for Password Change from my DDO account...
Thing is i didn't request that change, am i right in assuming that someone has gotten enough details of my account to request a password change?

I'm wondering if this maybe what Turbine were warning people about in the frontpage screen at login last week...

Also i have one thing to say to those that seek to steal other peoples fun, work, and accounts...

Hmmm....First of all, are you certain the email was from Turbine?

What was the domain? It should have been @turbine.com

Even with the correct domain though, it's still possible to fake. My brother, who is majoring in computer sciences, once showed my how easy it is to send out emails using other people's email addresses, without even accessing their account.

Just to be safe, maybe go to your account and actually change the password to something new, to throw off whoever may possibly be trying to get access to your account.

The terms are spoofing and phishing. Never click on a link in the email if it wants you to log in and verify information. Always go to the site by typing the web address directly in your browser, then change your password.

I got the same email, and I just deleted it. I don't think it was actually Turbine that sent it.

However, who knows maybe someone was trying to access your account, so they could get your CC information.

Scary...really scary.

Nov 12, 2007 09:30 EST Turbine takes the security of your game account and personal information seriously. We advise you to avoid using your Turbine account name and password for any other web accounts, forums, or site log-ins across the internet. We also recommend you change your Turbine account password regularly, which you can do by going to http://myaccount.turbine.com.

Should you ever feel your account has been compromised, please contact our customer support department for assistance. Thank you!

Thanks everyone for the input, i've taken everyones' advice into account, changed what i had to etc.

Just so everyone is aware, when you click the "Forgotten your password?" link on the Account Management website (https://myaccount.turbine.com) it initiates an email to be sent to the email address on file for that account that will allow you to reset your password.

This is in order to ensure that only the account owner will ever have access to change the password on an account. This does mean that someone with your username and access to your email will be able to change the password, so PLEASE be very careful as to who you trust with this information and access.

If you have received this password reset email, it is likely that someone typed in your username after clicking on the "Forgotten your password" link. Sometimes this is due to someone not remembering their username correctly and they may be trying a couple different options. Normally you can feel fairly safe if you receive this email by just deleting it.
