Which, with all things considered equal for everything else, will net the biggest return. My build that I am working on is max dex, for ranged combat and is looking to see which is better for the 15th feat selection

Improved crit by a mile.
Precision is really only usefull at low levels in my expereince. Around level 8 or so you end up getting an attack value that can consistanly hit pretty much everything, especialy for a dex ranger, one of the most accurate builds you can make. Halving you damage for a small bonus is not a good idea.
At low level I found it usefull for my fighter/wizard but at level 14 i can hit +35 to hit without it so i re-speced it out long long ago.
Improved crit on the other hand is far and away the best DPS feat in the game.

Dont you get PRECISION for free as a ranger anyways? So there is no dilemna.

No. You get Precise Shot and Im. Precise Shot. Precision you must select. It is only really useful for people specializing in stat damage or the Epic 5. It prevents you from getting aggro while waiting for your effects to proc.

Agree all around. I've recently dropped precision on my ranger (34 dex and no weapon focus) and I still hit just fine.
As said before, precision was great with wounders before the nerf. You could hit for 0 damage, but do a point of con damage and get zero aggro. Now you have to get at least 1 point of damage for the con damage to pass through.

Hehe, not sure how many caught the last part of the sentence though. I would say Imp Crit all the way but it shouldnt be at Level 15. You should already have this feat if your a ranged ranger.
