Mortal Voyage is a no-twink, no-spoilers Permadeath guild on Argonnessen. Our rule set is inspired by classic paper and pencil campaigns.

Note: The official rules are kept at our website www.mortalvoyage.com (http://www.mortalvoyage.com)

Note: The old thread had a bunch of mess, so I'm starting this one fresh.

:eek:Oh my:eek:

When I founded Mortal Voyage, I often thought "Am i crazy? Am I the only one that wants a classic PnP style challenge in DDO?"

We recently hit a milestone with over 20 concurrent members logged on. We are hitting five+ groups going at peak times. Thanks for eveyone whos joined me in this special dream of a guild.

Thanks for making the group available! I (Carliee) had tons of fun running with you guys last night, but kinda' feel like I've got a DDO hangover today.

When are the Mortal Voyage guys/gals online most often? I was in the guild for a little while, and truly enjoyed it, but dropped out because I never saw anyone online. I play primarily during the day (I work nights) so it's hard enough to find PUG's most of the time, much less find any guild-mates online.

I'd be interested in trying it out again if there are active members during daylight hours.

Off hours play has grown a bit. I can't personally play much then, but we have some that do regularly. I think you can get small groups most of the time. At peak hours, we usually have three or four groups.

Parvo, I want to thank you for sending the invite for Costanza to join Mortal Voyage, yesterday. I had one of the most fun and challenging runs through Butcher's Path, since I started playing DDO. Six of us, levels 1-3 on elite with no cleric. It was as close to the level of challenge that I first experienced when playing pencil & paper, where we all avoided dying with as much effort as possible. We took it slow, planning each battle as we went, as opposed to the fast-paced runs I have been on before, where the death of a toon is just a slight inconvenience. The party sticked together and worked together as team, better than any PUG I have been with.

We did have one death in the party, and the mood was as sombre as I remember it being when one of my friends lost a character in the pencil & paper game. Surviving the quest felt like much more of an accomplishment than ever before.

As you progress, it only gets better. Over the Weekend, we completed a quest called Hiding in Plain Site. I think everyone in the group was playing thier highest MV character. It was a true nail-biter with several close calls that took everything out of us.

Allways looking for players who like a challenge...

Some of our members anre now approaching level fourteen. There are lots of groups at peak time and off-hours play has grown nicely. If you like the idea of PnP style PD play, come check us out.

I have been playing with Mortal Voyage for just over a month and it has been a lot of fun.

My problem was that after playing the game for a year I was finding it too difficult at the higher levels. I found that each time I progressed up a level (to 15) I never seemed to have good enough equipment and the quests and raids were difficult to run at speeds the groups were running them. I never seemed like I could catch up. Perhaps it was that I was not a good enough player, perhaps it was that I didn’t play often enough. I ran most of the raids (Titan/DQ/VON several times each) but did not cap out multiple characters like in many guilds. At the same time, I was able to accumulate enough gear to pass down to my new characters to overpower them at the lower levels. Most of the PUG groups I was running were able to speed through adventures. I do not know how many people had a situation similar my experience.

Mortal Voyage is friendly, skilled, active and kind to newcomers. Players start on an even footing with equipment. Acquisition of new equipment is frequent and joyous as you level because you started with nothing. I am learning quests that I used to run through in PUG groups. The game has an edge to it and gets tense when your HP bar gets down to half as opposed to the ‘inconvenience’ of death. Death is painful and memorable (each one is often logged by the members) but does not need to be exceptionally frequent (2 deaths in one month, one character now at level 7).

I do not understand all of the heated discussion about permadeath on the message boards. Permadeath is not designed to solve any problems for the game as a whole, but for many people would offer considerable benefits. No question that this style of play is not for everyone I would think. I don’t want to insult the other members of the guild by implying that the players are inferior (many of them are remarkably skilled and extremely powerful for level despite not twinking), however it was my own difficulties at the higher levels that made be first give Mortal Voyage a try. I was having trouble fitting in and if your situation mirror’s my own and you feel like you are constantly catching up, I would recommend you give Mortal Voyage a try. www.mortalvoyage.com

I played as a rogue named SSnake Plisskin for a short time. I found it very challenging. It was because of not a lot of people playing that i fell off the grid with Permadeath. I think after seeing this i am gonna ressurrect Ssnake.

Mortal Voyage is three years old and strong as ever. We're approaching guild level 30. If you want to play in a team oriented atmosphere, more like paper and pencil D&D, take a look.

Our guild level seems to have stabilized around level 38-40.

We now have about 15 active European players, so if you've not joined earlier cause of lack of players in the European or Middle Eastern timezones, this might be a good time to join!

I am a retired player right now, but if I was an active player I would like to try MortalVoyage with a few classes for the challenge.

But I am gonna be sincere: I wouldn't make my main Human Barbarian Hero in your Guild, because I don't like a few MortalVoyage's rules like I can't use AH and all the brokers available, to be forbidden repeat the quests, wilderness, and farming XP and loot.

Otherwise I am a hearty PD player, I don't accept to be ressurrected, -10 once and I delete Hero.

Foresee an exponential growth of PD players in DDO.
