View Full Version : What's YOUR Zombie Plan?

This most critical of questions is so often ignored by the average person. That's why when the zombies attack in the movies or from the depths of the Necropolis, its always a massive horde of undead against a few intrepid folks who knew how to survive. All the unprepared got themselves eaten.

So, when the world is stuck by the hordes of undead which have risen from the grave, or been animated by evil magic, or have been twisted from the living by some horrible plague, what is YOUR Zombie Plan?

There's a home depot within a block of a Superwalmart (with gas station) that is within 10 miles of all my friends. At the first sign of Zombie invasion, text messages will go out, and we all converge there. We loot the Superwalmart for guns, then canned food, then gas. Load it all in my mini-suv, my friend Jimmie's Cherokee, and my other friend Sam's Canyonero. We haul ass to the Home Depot, and break out the lumber and the nail guns to start, barricading up all the doors. Then we go to work with the more involved supplies - stone, triple thick windows, security cameras, etc. We haven't actually picked the places for the emergency weapons caches, but that's something we can figure out in the first week or so.

If necessary, a medium sized group can sneak out and hit the Radio Shack to pick up some wireless repeaters so that our Wi-Fi will work, and we can get updates on the situation.

Painting "Oy! Lots of people in here - come in with proof you're human" on all walls and the roof will be done if there's time.

....What? You all don't have one of these?

Seeing as I will be the guy commanding the zombies, I don't need a anti-zombie plan

However, this thread may give me valuable insights in how to break up the resistance...

I have a chain saw in the shed, and the computer is next to a massive Gun safe filled with rifles and shotguns. Zombies attack and I only hope that I remember the combination.

All you bunker advocates should reconsider. re: Your Brains (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjMiDZIY1bM). The video was done in WoW (/shudder), but it's a great song.

"I don’t want to nitpick, Tom, but is this really your plan?
To spend your whole life locked inside a mall?
Maybe that’s OK for now but someday you’ll be out of food and guns
And then you’ll have to make the call."

Most likely location at the start of a zombie attack is my apartment in Columbus OH, so we start from there.

I don't own a gun, so out comes the machete and katana's. Those'll last me for a while, and I'd figure ammo would run out eventually. The guns come later. Grab the military duffle, fill it with a pot, all the canned food I have, a can opener, flammable liquids, and matches/lighters.

Get in the car, and get the hell out of the big city. Screw a supply run, or barricading somewhere nearby. Population is too dense here to fight off, especially with those tiny farming communities with miles of empty plains out there, filled with NRA zealots who like guns.

Only when I get to a location like that, some backwater town of 50, do I find a general store and raid it for supplies. Its safer than Walmart and more likely to have the violent things I need. Also, more likely to find survivors in a remote area like that. Remote areas are the last to be infected.

Remote lands will make it easy enough to keep the hordes out, while still farming for food supplies. Also, likely to find a HAM radio out there, so will be able to contact the military and other intrepid people.

I appreciate all you guys. Because you will provide distractions to keep them off our base.

Killing the zombies is really not the problem. They will always make more. If you're just running around with weaponry, though, you eventually run out of ammo, or food.

The key question with a zombie infection is whether it's global or local, and whether it's permanent or reversible. If it's a global, non-curable plague, then everyone needs to get together in one place and figure out how to get us all to Mars or the Moon....

This is true. I guess the question is whether you assume once the zombies come, that's it, or whether there will be pockets, but not complete overrunning.

I mostly assume that I'll control the zombies, myself.
