I got bored last night...

A very dangerous thing...

And decided to play the servers...all of them.
<sigh>
Boredom kills.
I traveled far and wide, I played my first bard...my prototype...a little, mostly just to see what gear he doesn't have...
I played my fighter baby...level 3.

I found myself in over my head trying to complete level 1 quests soloing on elite with no twinking...
I found my self often incapped.

I found a server in which I have no characters what so ever..and decided to roll a rogue.
A soloing rogue, able to fight and do traps...28pt'er

I traveled the streets of *server name here* and ventured the goodblades on solo level, just to be sure to keep little Sheillea alive..
And succeeded.

I decided to find a group of level ones and continue quest completion.
I saw a likely group, asked to join, and waited a while with the golden coin over my head, and was picked up by quite a different group.

There was a halfling rogue, a warforged wizard, and my elf girl. Not the perfect group....but who is perfect, any way?

The experience level of the players would be Newb...prospects of being great without the advantage of time and experience to be NOOB...
They still have prospects...they are not regrettably broken yet.

I noticed one of the players was brand spanking new, and one, a younger player, was being mentor...cool. Dont know what the goodblades are, never tried to tumble, gots no jump...meh. Just watch your HP's please!

So I hung back, did my job, kept quiet and played my heart out.
I like the roguing...it suits me. almost as much as the barding.

Eventually, I found the rogue thought he was doing me a favor...lol. A newb... assisting a power gamer...lolololol.

I guess there are some new people playing, I guess there are still peeps who do not know the names of every quest...

I guess there are stilll things to do in the game.

I do get a little disheartened when long time players lose interest and head off to different worlds for whatever reasons. I miss my friends and have considered joining them.

The act of server hopping and starting fresh with no gear and no money and no friends is a desperate measure to find new life in a game I have spent exhaustive time with..

But there are still things to do. Builds to try. Permadeath, maybe...

How many others have wandered far fom home to find new oppurtunity?

I saw ASP was on...lol

Yup, these things keep the game fresh for me. I play the game as it is. I have yet to cap a character because I've hopped servers quite a bit. I build a class or race just to see what it is like so I can do a better job of playing with them. I reroll. I try new or "funky" builds. I HAVE FUN!

I totally recommend starting fresh on a new server. Even if it is just a few days a week. I think the people who say the game is too easy have forgotten how challenging it can be when you don't have all the best stuff. Do you remember when getting a +1 longsword of pure good was something exciting? If you don't, I recommend trying the game out again as a newb. It is a blast. It is a lot of fun to pretend you are new to the game as well. Let the group walk into an ambush and fight your way out instead of prepping for each fight. That is the way I keep from getting bored.

What's truly funny, is that my character on Ghallanda is IMHO more uber than any of my characters on Argo, and he has zero raid loot. Dying for a +3 cha tome....it's the only reason I raid. That or a +2 tome and the Litany of the Dead :)

It is hard..playing the untwinked..
I keep thinking...oooohhh a stack of this potion...a +2 increase to the armor...
armor with a plus...something more fashionable..

I have gotten interesting lowbie items...self pulled.
Goodgame has a set of +1 half plate that looks like a robe ..and gets him some complaints..lol...newbs.

My little rogue got a combustion 1 helm and a minor spell pen 2 scepter...and several lower pneumonics I handed off to the wiz...encourage the new to become the old...and the generous because somene was generous to them.

She kept the +1 1/4 staff...nice weapon for a rogue.

I almost start to panic when I have empty equipment slots...lol.

But I want to play to earn.

That server...the one I saw you on last night...Aspenor (in name...I am not stalking you...I stalk Kargon! and Keensley)
How is the climate?

Will I die a horrible death of the outsider?
Will I be haranged to give away everything I own just because someone else wants it?
Will I fit in?
Should I try to find a guild or run with my fake one...
Any suggestions?

And to anyone else who is a resident of the servers I hopped...(all of them)
Any other suggestions to survive on anyone elses server...customs...what never to do?

How should I play as a visitor?
How would you like a surfer to play?
I already know not to brag about the uber lewt and capped out maxed out super uber leet!!11!!!11! ness I have obtained...

And not to beg...

Help the new girl out?
With advice?

I find it helps to just play, prove my ability to play through my actions. I play primarily casters, whom aren't as reliant on gear as melees. Twinking a melee makes him a powerhouse at low levels. An untwinked properly played caster is a powerhouse, anyhow.

The server...., is fine. I've met some good people, and I've experienced people that *hate* me simply because of my "forums personality" (as if I care). Actions speak far louder than words, and if you can't drop a grudge to experience a person's playstyle in game, well, here's a tissue. OOpps...sorry...I digress...*the* server is fun, it has its upsides and its downsides.

Don't be afraid to ask for things, most people will give up low level items because their characters are twinked already.

Don't worry I won't tell. I'm honored you noticed me.

I do like celebrity...lol.
I noticed Dane in a screen shot...

I have also noticed that I am kinda infamous.
occasionally due to personal opinion stated in forum regarding lewt assigned to me and how I wished to be in charge if its distribution...

And I have been sent tells about things I have said in the forums, pro and con, had people take me too seriously for things said in my character's BIO's, assumptions made due to others cries of treason due to their non-support of guild activities--rather, self centered attitude, been reported to my guild leader (at the time) to oust me for my opinion on the forums, been shunned for guild rules by ex guildies and their new guild...

Drama, gotta love it. I am a vain, greedy, hater, leetist who is only out to grab as much as I can regardless of what is right, agreed upon, the rules, and common decency. Oh, and I suck as a player because I don't buff the party till I am out of mana, racall, get killed 5 times getting back to the quest and do it without complaint, don't heal party members in a timely fashion who run so far ahead of me that I have to travel 4 map screens until their blue dot stops being a white arrow, don't have an arsenal of scrolls for the party's disposal...and I have weapons...and other gear on all my home server toons...My bard hads 2 disrupters, a smiter, a vorpal and 2 paralyzers, and an array of repeaters that should have crippled her...I must be greedy...

Someone who would never be affected by my choices regarding raid loot as I only guild raid for loot. (and refuse loot offered if there are others in need or have better or cannot use it or there are new people who want it or..or..or...

I have 3 pieces of raid loot.
And it will prolly stay that way.

But you suggest I just play...
What a concept...ok...no NO's!...Nothing is taboo?

LOL!
Bragging about what a great player you are in another game and then being a NooB in this one was one on Aerenal...
...
That and saying anything to a particular bard named after a semi famous singer the player was a big fan of...sorry Fionna Apple...you aren't semi famous...you are fabulous!
The Criminal song was always my favorite at Kareoke...Cause I've been a bad...bad...girl...
I've been careless with a del-i-cate ma-han...
and it's a sad sad wo-or-or-orld...
When a girl will break a boy...just because she ca-han!
lol...
Don't tell me to deny it. I've been wro-hong and I wanna suffer for my sins.
:p

Ah I think I understand...

I say yes, just play. Do it. Be yourself. I've had people take me too seriously for my bios as well, and my forums sig, and things I say and my personal forums jokes. The wonderful thing about my guild, is that people can try to complain to my leader, but it won't get them anywhere. He doesn't care.

I haven't sought to join a home guild on the server, because I'd feel wrong with anything but a Tinted Faces tag.

I join PUGs, and most of the time at least one person knows who I am. It's refreshing.

New players are awesome, I took two new players through the harbour in the weekend and had a blast of a time. Slightly gimped builds but hey everyone does that the first time, so I didn't comment (except to plead with the WF to get healers friend). :)

I forgot when I joined I kept asking why we weren't completing the optional objectives... well they asked the same thing so we went and did ALL the optional objectives for every quest we went through. Was hilarious. I didn't even know where half of them were. Their reaction was the same as mine: "Er... we only got 15 XP for that, is that right?" or "Wow, I almost got killed for masterwork breastplate?"

I can see the fun I'll get out of the game when I'm as ancient and wizened as you guys is bringing new players, leading groups and helping newbs. My philosophy is the more inclusive you are, the more friends you make, the more fun you have in the long run and the better the game becomes.
