hope this doesn't suck
is it going to be a trilogy? I had originally tohught they were cramming all 3 books into one movie.... a trilogy would be better though.......
........ IF they make all three parts :)

Its subtitled "Dragons of Autum Twilight"
That would indicate they plan on doing all 3(maybe 4)

... and it looks like the graphics date to when I last read the books.
Not promising. :(

2 notes. 1) Direct to DVD. And 2) gawd does the art suck. D&D cartoon (circa 1985) style characters mixed with some decent computer animated dragons & landscapes. I was interested, even excited, when I heard the news about a year ago. But, the trailer earns a "meh" from me. :(

I would assume they would do all 3 (maybe 5)...
But gods, that looks TERRIBLE! It's like the animators of the Hobbit got together for a reunion and highered the CG people from the two Dungeons and Dragons movies... Bleh.

Yup, looks god awful. I was hoping when they said animated it would be more like some CG stuff a la Pixar or even like what they did in that Final Fantasy flick. This is disappointing. :(

I was hoping this would be decent, and lead into a possible real movie. After seeing that animation and cheesy trailer, it reminds me of how bad the D&D movie was.

yeah the D&D movie sucked... BUT, with this one at least they have a darn good story to work with.

BUT, with this one at least they have a darn good story to destroy.
Fixed. :/

As much as I'm granting leeway with 'It's only a rough', I haven't seen that much jarring between things since the last Uwe Boll crudfest I suffered through.
By what stretch of any logic is it even remotely considered passable to have such disparate styles of animation in place like that?
Not even the most intense Dragonlance fan'll accept this as palatable much less passable.

Wow, looked like there could be some G.I. Joe action in there, along with Snarf.
It's like it was secretly made in 1989 and not found until a few years ago, at which point a producer said "hey - let's fill in the gaps with this whole computer graphics thing the kids seem to like what with their 'video' games and Internets!"
Truly horrible.

Here's some frames touched up by someone. I'm reserving my judgment for the final result, but that's just me.
I'm not that upset over the look of it so far. It's animated, I guess my expectations were alot lower than everyone elses. If this is the process they have to go through to get a live action film that's fine by me.

heheh...."Yo Joe!":)
My first thoughts were "Spiderman and His Amazing Friends"...but yeah, same idea.
I dig all of this stuff though, even if it is kinda crappy....but it really does look like Iceman and Firestar could show up at any second. ;>]

:) My thoughts exactly! Well, actually I was thinking Thundercats mixed with the old D&D show animations, but close enough. The soundtrack didn't sound promising either.
I REALLY did not like the voice they chose for Raistlin. Since he is sickly I always pictured him with a more raspy voice.
I will probably buy the DVD because I am such a fanboy ... I mean, I bought the two D&D movies and am considering purchasing the TV cartoon series.

I don't understand why they didn't make it into a real movie from the beginning, following along the lines of Lord of the Rings. It has so much potential...
Some of the graphics look alright... the dragons, and some of the shots of draconians look good. But the shots of the characters do remind me of growing up watching GI Joe, Thundercats, and He-Man (yeah, I was born in 83!). I'll give it the benefit of the doubt though and hope that it IS only a very rough cut so far.

Lets hope that Atari is advertising this movie, so that nobody knows it is ever made.....

I hope that was just a rough with the characters themselves yet to be done in CGI because this will ruin the story and suck worse than the D&D movie. Mixing animation techniques is NEVER a good idea.

Good but not great. It would be nice to see the interest on this.
If there is a lot you can bet paramount will push for a full production live action movie not some 1980's circa graphical rendition.
The market right now is definately there with the success of the LOTR movies, Eragon, and now Beowolf.
The "Dragons of" novels are some of the best written literature ever.
