The Blood Trinket

Hey does anyone know if The Blood Trinket (DR5 plus some negitives to abilities) still drop in VON 4? I know its in that thread called the definitave loot list or something like that, just wanted to know before I invest time farming it.

The Bloodrage Symbiont still drops from the barrel in the corner of the right-lever-room

I've got one on each of my characters almost :P

Havn't seen one since mod5 but I'm certain it's still there.

Either the bloodstone(gem) drops or the bloodrage symbiont drops in the far right bottom corner of the fire traps room, it drops out of a barrel, it also binds.

The item exists just no one ever breaks the barrel that it sits in :)

You will either get the symbiot or you will get a gem from the barrel.

Two weeks ago when blitzing through the vons I didn't run and check the barrel. After some uncountable number of attempts at getting this I just decided not to bother anymore. So of course someone in the group I'm with smashes the barrel and there it it. I will of course now try a couple hundred more times without ever actually seeing it.

Yup, after nearly two years, the code has been cracked. I've done 60 dragon completions on my main, so I stopped running the vons (after getting SOS as end reward). I ran through the vons about two months ago and got an inkling about the symbiot (Come on, symbiont has to be a typo like Tanglefoot, right?).

So last Friday I was helping a friend through the vons. Unfortunately, he was riding the short bus that day and we had to do it 3 times. I spawned 3 symbiots.

I was going to take some time this weekend and fill up one page of inventory on one of my guys with them to give you all a nice screenshot. It is really, really funny what you have to do to spawn it. Prepare to feel like an idiot.

Here it is:

Kill RC1.
Kill RC2.
Smash the container.
That is all.

I mean, you even get the DM text after killing each of them: "A slimy leech-like creature crawls out of RC1's (RC2's) body."

I'll explain to you guys how we missed it in these last two years if this thread continues. I performed the adamantine ritual on one of mine so that it is actually somewhat useful.

The -2 to both con and will saves makes non melee based classes hesitate about using it...or at least constantly equipping it.
But the rest if you are not a warforged...makes it quite worthwile.

And if a supertank non barbarian or a barb wanting extra rages, quite an acceptable deal (but don't ask for any will saves from them :) )

He's in the same room as the Fire Trap. Most of the time you lead him to the acid pit and he dies down there.

Or was that RC1 and RC2 is the one that lets you in? I can never remember.

RC2 is the door one. RC1 is in the fire room. Killing both of them does not guarantee you a symbiot.

I don't pull them back on Symbiont runs, that's wasted time that could be spent running. :)

Typically...
Go in, pull lever.
Banish any elementals that end up in room with me.
Talk to RC there at the door.
Pull 2nd lever.
Use Jungle Cloak + Shield Clicky + Haste Potion.
Run down right hallway, jumping over pits.
Break down door.
Haste Potion again.
Run up ramp, jump to pipe, run down pipe, and drop into cubby hole with storage bin.
Pick up worthless bloodstone, recall, and do it again.

Okay you state to kill RC1 and RC2

Do you realize that RC2 is the one at the beginning?
He opens the gate for you, then gets invated by a symbiont, and attacks you.
RC1 Is In the big room with the lightning in the cages.

So are you saying run to RC1, kill him, then run back and kill the guy at the front entrance?
Or Did you just mix up the names.

In either case i'm pretty sure 90% of the parties running this quest end up killing all the WF in there, so should be more symbiont drops right?

and 1 more question.

Is the drop in the lightning/cage room in the bottom right corner of the room, you have to walk a spiral staircase and it leads to the top of a bunch of crates, and there is a hole in one, with a ceramic pot/barrel down inside?

I lured all the drones into the pit.. broke open the door to the main control room, then I lured rest of the drones (including RC1) to the pit. I ran back, went up the spiked ramp, around the corner, ran past all the fire traps, around the corner, and jumped down to the crates.
I dropped down into the little cubby hole, and broke the barrel, only to find copper pieces! I recalled, did it again 5 mins later, and this time nothing dropped from the breakable! I was told you would either get the symbiont, or a blood gem.
What am I doing wrong?

Dropping them in the pit does not kill them... they get stuck on the sides. Try killing them.

i know he's not dead.. i went down there and saw him on a pipe. Problem is I can't kill him by myself! He always has 3 or 4 drones stuck next to him, and they just heal when I shoot at them with my returning axe. I can't kill him to save my life! The only way I can take him out is to somehow get him by himself, or lure him to a trap that can kill him.

Has to be the wrong breakable. It should be called "Storage Bin". If you are on Argonessen, send Glenalth or Preston a tell and I can point it out.

no I got the right one.

I ran another run after my post.. except this time I had help. We killed him, and the bin dropped bloodstone. I can confirm that you have to kill RC1 for the bin to drop gem or symbiont. If he is still alive, then the breakable will just yield random ****.

Can someone give me a tip on how to isolate RC1 so I can take him out by myself? I'm only 9th level, and I like running this by myself, instead of waiting for a group, explaining them whats on the go, and risk somone grabbing the trinket. I just need him to die so I can loot the bin

Was in quest with 2 other people at the time, so that's not the issue. The 2 I have had drop, one was in a full party the other was when I was doing solo runs to see if the Symbiont still existed.

Hello everyone. I decided to get my level 7 rogue a bloodrage symbiont in the process of leveling him. I currently have two, both were pulled in the last two days. Here are some statistical notes and general tips for getting one for those who are interested.

You need a 25 hide and move silently to sneak past the elementals in the fire room. (you will also probably want a fire resist item)

You do not need to kill any mobs.

I kept a running tally of my bloodstones to keep easy track of my number of runs.
I got my first symbiont on my 19th run.
I got my second symbiont on my 26th run.
These are just my numbers, other peoples numbers could vary widely.

The stats are:

Minimum level 7 / equips to trinket
positive effects
3 charges per rest of rage
disease immunity
proof against poison
5/- DR
negative effects
-2 constitution
-2 will save

Base durability 1 (improves to 11 with adamantine ritual 1)
Base hardness 15 (improves to 20 with adamantine ritual 1)

The adamantine ritual is costly, and this item is not optimal for all characters.

Just ran VON 4 yesterday and the symbiot dropped. I handed it to the barbarian though since my cleric doesn't need it lol. Yes, it still drops :)

THATS why my 6 cha barb aint never gettin one!!! and here i been yelling at people for not killin the rc units. :( i guess i gotta make a 50 cha bard and dance around the barrel naked while singing to it. would it also help if i /hug, /beg, /kiss the barrel first, or is that only for chests and end rewards??

Did ~6 runs last week and pulled another one. Did not kill anything except the elementals and whatever died at the bottom of the pits.

Immediately applied Adamantine ritual I and II. Held up just fine through an entire Shroud run that way.

Tried to get one a few times. First time killed RC2, killed RC1, smash container, got bloodstone.
Next two times killed RC1, killed RC2, smashed container, got more bloodstones. :(

So killing RC1 and RC2 do not seem to guarantee anything.

May not mean anything, but i ran this dozens of times on my wiz and got all bloodstones. I ran it the other day on my ranger and actually got the spot check for the something crawling away after killing the RC's and it spawned the first try. Don't know if that means anything.

Ran it mostly killing both RC1 and RC2, although I did try killing them in both orders, as well as killing neither.

Looks like a standard random drop in the 1/30 range.

Now off to get some more khyber shards to beef it up.

it's all just chance upon breaking the breakable. i got it 2 times in 8 runs, call me lucky.

edit: i wonder when people will start calling this item an exploit. afterall, the durability was supposed to render it nigh useless when it was created. ;) lol.
