Pillars: Bard Runs the pillers clockwise fascinating the mobs, Tank runs the pillars after him preparing the pillers. Tanks waits at 1st base, Second tank runs to Second base, Third Tank runs to Third Base, Pillers = Done.

Dragon: Run party to spot behind the pillers but within range of a single fighter, make him tank solo at the tip of the Dragons head. 3 Clerics, and UMD Wand Whippers, keep him alive, with Heals, Fire Prots etc, while other sit back and twiddler there thumbs.

Have the bard go around again and refascinate the mobs because some people can't do it fast enough.

Wow, sounds incredibly dull for the other members of the party. Cmon, with a party of lvl 14s are you telling me you can't find another way to get everyone involved at least a little more, instead of the "hero" method?

Yea dunno about that idea. I beat the dragon 40+ times, around half of those on elite.. Never used once that method.

hey vorpal, that method been used since before server merge by the bard priety (riedra). he'll pull all the mobs to the home base, fascinate them. the only difference is that the mobs cant be pulled now. there is also another method in use, fear spell :D

Well give it a shot now and see what happens :D ran it elite last night for the first time since last update. She hits ALOT harder then before... :cool: 160+ HP of fire damage every round, 60-200 slash damage per round. Many different methods for the pillars. That's not the hard part in the least, it's Velah herself yet again. I don't see any way around putting at least 1 cleric behind the rocks to raise etc along with maybe a tank or 2 and caster to protect cleric from spawned mobs. There's no way a party without 1 cleric per toon will keep up with her DPS per round from fire/slash. I'm not saying it isn't possible.. But VERY unlikely... :o

If you are getting hit for 200 points of slash damage from ANY mob in this game, you should really consider getting a heavy fort item.

If it was piercing damage, maybe you should consider standing in front of her rather than behind her.

Just as a note to Trapdoor / Vorpal... I was on this run with you (Verboten).

When we zoned in, I thought to myself that it looked like it was loaded on normal, but wrote it off as the silly door difficulty display bug that has been around forever. I did not check the XP sheet when we were inside. Afterwards, while going through my favor sheet I saw that I only had this quest done on Normal. Sure enough, did it last night on Elite and got my first-time elite bonus, so it looks like our run the day before you posted this was actually on Normal, not elite.

Beat it on elite 3 times since mod5 update. Velah was not changed in any way. The perception might of as allot more poor players are attempting elite as they want the better loot chance, where as before they might of never tried it.

She does absolute the same damage as before, about 140 dmg pierce melee, around the same on the firebreath.

Takes us about 1 minuit to kill her, last elite run took a total of 6 minuits.

It does require some seriously good players to pull off, but really thats why its elite. And the 1 cleric per toon idea is reather unnessary, they have a spell called cure mass - it works on the whole party. True 99% of clerics cannot withstand velahs onslaught while healing, but I have a few great ones in my guild that do a fine job , so even if the whole party dies except my barbarian and him, we are always fine.

Last run 3 pug cleric died in 5 seconds, while my 2 guild ones survived and healed us thru it fine.

Cheese it all ya like by exploiting but don't kid yourself on what your doing.

Hey now some of us non-guild clerics can heal.:) I hope the lesson to be learned for you wasn't don't grab a couple of gnarly pug clerics, but to only run it with guildies... Yeah all these cheese methods - I am quite frankly tired of at this point. What is the point so people can have some more worthless raid loot. To beat something with an asterisk and if so congratulations on that (I am not referring to the bard fascinating, but the velah end fight cheese).

Ya need to find yourself some dwarven battle clerics. :D Stand in her mouth and keep everyone healed while swinging an axe at her. It just takes some thought beforehand and some communication during the battle. Velah on elite isn't anything difficult.

One con check fail for the clerics at the wrong time and all hell can break loose. You've had your wipes just the same as everyone else. Cleric doesn't have a static fire resist item to wear, your cast resist is gone immediately. Some get flung off to the Market. Yeah, it can go bad.

I dont think there is many people here saying that it is easy on elite. They are just saying that the encounter is completely beatable using legitimate methods. I dont have too much pride to admit i have wiped there my share, as Shade stated...some clerics have a knack of keeping themself alive and this is basically what that encounter comes down to.
Oh , if you are referring to the title of the post with your comments, then yes maybe there is one person that is saying it is easy. Anyone that can say guaranteed 100% win on velah elite with a pug obviously uses some cheese.

That's good! A Red Dragon should be a challange for even the highest level characters. They should make it harder and increase the quest level. IMO

Solution, Cleric with quicken spell wont fail a con check :)

You overestimate her abilities Jermacide. I solo her all the time using a 1st lvl rogue with a sharpened spoon and bad language. Sometimes I let her survive just to show her whos the real named boss. ;)

the best way to do the pillars, is to not get any agro from the mobs at all, Range them all, very easy to do.
