1. Is it too late to try to get into the game?
i was playing on the trial account and i noticed everyone is highlevel and some of the people are ********
<--i dont wanna be the only lvl 1>>
and i dont want to hear the dreadful words "solo your way up then play with others"

2. Does it drag on and get boring after a while?

well thats pretty much it..
mostly Question1.

BTW, im on Thelanis or whatever
if theres a more (noob friendly) server
or a more populated server so theres a bigger selection of people
that would be great..

THANKS

Lots of lower level groups out there. Mostly experienced players rolling alts but tell them you are new and they'll help you out.

Every game gets boring after a while but there is alot of content for those who are just joining.

Q about Newbies tho
am i like the only newbie?
playing with Ppls with alts is fun,
But i enjoy taking my time thru Dungeons (NOT SWEET ASS TIME)
but like
at least getting the most outta it,

i joined wtih a group of alts the other day
to do a quest?
they ran through it in like 20seconds,
Just running all super-fast killing everything not even enuf time for me to know whats going on lol

with new ppl they just sttill learning like i Am,
so its a little more fun..rather than someone who knows Everything allready
and just runs thru it to hurry up and level

Most people don't have general chat on. Most people are in a party and have the party chat window up instead. You can use the LFM tab to ask questions or ask on the forums if no one is answering you in general chat. It may be harder to find a group of non-newbies who want to take their time through dungeons they have seen 100 times but I see new players all the time. Also even though you may not want to hear it but almost everything in the harbor is easily soloed if you want to sightsee a bit.

There are lots of low level characters in the game; some of them new to the game, some of them alts. Use general chat. The jerks will ignore you or tell you to go away, but you'll ALSO find nice people who would like to help! Use the Social Panel: Grouping tab to see parties running quests in your level range. Or Who tab to see all non-anonymous characters in your level range. Welcome to DDO!

A lot of people don't know the answer and, rather than say "Sorry, I don't know" -- they just stop talking and hope you didn't notice they were there.

Can't lie to you, there are a lot of rude people in the game (no more so than any other game, honestly), but there are also a lot of helpful people. There are new players coming in so you'll definitely have some of them to group with. As for the alts, normally, if you ask, most will be willing to slow down to let you experience the quest without rushing through and ruining it for you.

Thing about general chat is that it has a maximum range. If you are running around after typing your question you could very well have passed out of that range and rendered the 12line explanation invisible to your eyes :D.

Your best bet is to stand in an area with lots of people and ask there and stay put for a minute. I suggest the wayward lobster as there is usually a decent crowd, the size of your chat range is equal to the inside of the tavern, and brawlers often use general for smack talk anyway and are most likely to see your question.

As for taking your time, well slow groups are much rarer than zerging experienced groups. If I was you, I would either make my own group and put "taking our time, no zerging" in the LFM panel, or alternatively get a few levels higher than the quest and then come back solo to smell the roses. Soloing a quest is the best way to learn it and discover its secrets IMO.

General chat (/general) is heard by anyone in the instance.

I know some have already answered this but here goes my take on it :)

There is ALWAYS someone running low level characters on Ghallanda. Someone trying out a new build or maybe they JUST opened up their 32pt build. You will have no trouble getting in with someone just starting out.

As for the boring aspect. NEVER seen it. I've been playing since April of LAST year, a little over a month after launch...and i STILL haven't finished every quest. And i play every day for a few hours...no i am not a break-neck gamer(nothing wrong with those that are) but i and many in my guild are of the mind that its the journy not JUST the destination that matters.

If you want to try Ghallanda, come on over...look one of us up. LotB is an evening guild with the highest pop on between 8-11pm CST.

The one thing thats really cool about our group of folks...we WANT to teach the game to new players. We've got some GREAT peeps in this guild and we all have a real life so we understand when things come up and RL rears its 'ugly' head...but mostly we want to help those new to the game.

You might be running a quest for the first time with 5 folks thats been in game for over a year...and YOU will be leading the quest. All the secrets and all the surprises will be yours to find and be had. Its FUN to experience them again with someone the first time...it helps us remember what it was like to escape from under the wavecrest again...or exploring the waterworks for the first time. Its great!

Ok...gotta admit, i have been known to get after folks that INSIST on using the GENERAL tab as their private chat room. BUT, if you ask a question, I will drop everything and /tell you a response. Thats just me tho. I think there are some rude people playing (that goes for ANY game) but I think we have a MUCH higher rate of helpful players to hateful than any other game.

Just my opinion there but hey :)

Hope that helps and if you want to, look any of my alts up and if you get on and don't see one...just ask any member you see on and tell them about this conversation...they should be able to help ya!

Take care and hope you stay with us!
