I logged in the game today and I noticed I was having some very serious lag, which I usually have none at all.
So the first thing I looked at was my connection Icon in-Game and I noticed it was showing a 15% loss and a latency of about 100.
Now, I need to narrow down the problem so my next step was to Turn off my router and my Modem. This step sometimes helps, not always, but its nice to do this anyways. In my case it did not help at all.
The way I know it did not help because I went to this very Helpful website called
http://www.dslreports.com/. On DSLreports they have a testing page that anybody can use to test their connection to the internet and here is the the direct link to that page http://www.dslreports.com/tools
I performed a speed test on my connection and it was just a tad over 167kb/s to Chicago, well below my connection speed 10000kb/s or 10.1, Huston We have a problem:( .
My next step was to perform a Tracert, I already new it was going to be very bad tracert but I wanted to see where the problem was so when I call my ISP(internet provider) I could tell them what I knew.
here is what my Tracert to DDO looked like

Everything looks good until the 6th hop and I recieve the first * sign, from looking at it looks like my ISP is having a problem communicating with sl-gw38-chi-10-2.sprintlink.net [144.223.32.61]
I now know its not DDO, my computer, my router, or my modem
So my next step was to call my Internet provider InsightBB
After getting though to the help desk. I told the person I was havng a problem with my connection and have already performed a hard restart of my modem and router, which did not help. I also brought the fact up, that I was also using my Vonage telephone sevice to talk to her and I ask her if she could notice how bad the connection was from how bad the crackling noise was from the phone.
After a few minutes of talking to InsightBB she then tells me that there is indeed a problem with my connection in my area and they have a crew working on it and it will be fixed as soon as possible.:(
I know now why I was getting my Lag this morning and I know I wont be playing this weekend:( And I know I wont be blaming Turbine.
Because i took the time to find the problem and to call my ISP to let them know I was having a problem, im not mad im just having some withdrawl symtoms nothing more then a little bear wont help, Ok maybe alot of Jagermeister with the beer too.
Oh well.
Edited; A few hours later I was back up and running again, no lag, no problems. Im not saying this is a fix for everybody but if you come on this forum blaming Turbine for every connection problem without posting a single shred of proof of troubleshooting, how can we help you. Its helps turbine and others to see a DXdiag report, Tracert, or other important info concerning your particular problem.
Even though my connection came back before I had a chance to get drunk :) im writing this from a hell of a hangover:( dang Jagermeister
