Ran this twice last night, both ending in failure. Haven't failed on the bloody dragon in forever, and we never even made it to the friggen dragon. On the first attempt, the guy the first got haywire voice recalled out for mana. No one else could get it. The second time, the guy with the voice fell in the lava (yeah, I know...) by the chest goig north, had to recall out, and that was that.

The Question:

Can only one person now get the voice? And when did that change?

Thanks mod 5.

But why would anyone need to recall out for mana? Especially before you even use the voice?

Maybe after the first Voice related failure, you should of adjusted.

Yes, changed with mod5.

They made the change because people were getting more than one voice but i think they overlooked the fact that it can be destroyed and you have to start all over :(

Well, as the one who fell into the lava while carrying the voice, I can tell you that I didn't release because I wanted to. In fact, one of our clerics tried to throw me a Raise Dead, but I realized I'd've died immediately on acceptance, because I couldn't get out of the lava to heal up before dying again. There's nothing to jump up on to get out of the lava long enough to heal or do anything else. Had I thought about it at the time, I'd've thrown myself a D-Door before succumbing to the lava. But, last night, I was not that mentally agile.

At any rate, when the person carrying the voice has to release out of the quest, it's destroyed, and Haywire refuses to cough up another one.

I tried to contact a GM to resolve the problem, but the group wanted to break up before we received a response. Clearly, someone's logic is flawed. Either Otto's Voice should've dropped (like the ring did), or when it's destroyed, Haywire ought to offer another one. You simply cannot complete the quest without it, and forcing everyone to drop-group and start over is an excessive form of punishment for one person's mistake.

A good rule of thumb is to only have the most knowledgable, responsible individuals talk to npcs in raids. So leave the voice to someone that knows what they are doing.

The only time I've had issue with this is when someone that was not familiar with the raid decided he wanted to talk to all the npcs before anyone even loaded up. I think he learned his lesson.

Meh...

I was hoping, at least, for some constructive criticism, if not some positive advice.

Since I'm an officer in my guild, I think at least a few people feel I'm pretty responsible, and I've run the raid enough times, I know where I'm going and what I should be doing. It was just an honest mistake that I didn't turn my character in time and slipped off the platform.

It happens...

to everyone.

The issue at hand is that Otto's Voice was destroyed, rather than dropped, and there was no way to retrieve another one. Here's hoping the dev's give the issue some consideration and effect a proper resolution.

Thanks for the responses, though!

# Made a change to help prevent quest items from becoming inaccessible if the party member who was carrying them dies or leaves the quest.

From the 4.2 Release Notes. Apparently they didnt re-apply this after changing things with Mod 5.

Losing the voice happened to our group as well, and yes, we are all experienced players and dragon raid competent. Not allowing the voice to be re-acquired opens the door to mission failure from all sorts of reasons. Not just recalling. What if someone loses connection. Or how about player griefing? This is something we posted about right after mod 5 and got no response on... I hope that with continued threads on the issue the devs will consider a change.

Sorry but thats just dumb. Raids won't be considered or dumbed down for noobs or greifing. If thats such a huge concern to you, find some better groups. I pug it all the times - over 40+ times now and have ever had someone attempt to sabotage it. Very simple solution anyways - if you know what your doing - take the voice and do it yourself. Don't risk it to some random pug'er.

If you lose connection the voice drops to the ground where you are - a competant group will see the message that the designated person has lost connection and quickly aquire it. Its only lost on recall - which is a bug that will be fixed sometime (and easily worked around - trade it first)

I will admit I was really really worried about this dragon change...

But really, it's kinda easier now...

One person has the voice...

4 people for pillars...

no one worried about falling off the bridge or someone losing a bunch of xp base running...

And on the voice thing...ummm... it's taking on average ( and I say average) about an hour to run the whole thing with 14's (with killing velah)

I have also run it in about an hour with 9-12s... (with killing velah)

but I know it has to be aggravating to restart.

Personally I tried to grease the guy holding the voice into the lava on our guild raid... he saved ...sigh...

So much for excitement :)

Oh and I owe a shout out to a wonderfully pally on ghallanda who made my last run of the dragon so smooth *smooch* (I can't name a name because it might be against the forum rules... but you know who you are...)

See ya in Stormreach,
