Hi guys,

I started my trial a few days ago and have been having a fun time getting acquainted with the DDO universe.

A question, though - my 23" monitor has a native resolution of 1920x1200. Setting DDO to this resolution makes the game look great, but I've noticed that elements of the user interface become a wee bit smaller than I would like. I might just lower the resolution, but was wondering, is it possible to adjust the size of the user interface (menus, text and icons) independently of the screen resolution?

Is it possible to do this with Lotro as well? I was thinking of trying out that Turbine game too.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, you are not able to scale the UIs to your resolution. They are all one size (this is glaringly obvious in screenshots of people running at 800x600 with a single hotbar stretching the entire width of the screen).

You may try 1680x1050 (also 16x10 aspect) and see if the UI is large enough to be easily readable. :)

He is right and I have the opposite problem. I had the budget to update my computer completely, or buy a new monitor. Computer got the overhaul. So I am still using the old 21" CRT monitor and can't go to the resolution I would like to to make my hotbars smaller. This is one glaring issue with the UI. I loved other games where I could customize my UI a bit. Shame their gameplay doesn't come close to matching DDO's.

Thanks for your replies, guys. I guess the same answer applies to Lotro as well?

I've recently started to get back into MMO's (My last experience was as a WoW beta tester) by trying a few trials that are out there. I've noticed that EQ II (play the fae) gives me a whole bunch of options to enlarge the text and boxes of various UI elements, which is really nice.

Most of the time I try to play at my monitor's native resolution, but alas sometimes I can't either for performance reasons or, as in this case, b/c it turns the text incredibly tiny. I'm having the same issue with the original Dungeon Siege right now, which wasn't really meant to support higher rez, but can be enabled through a command line switch.

Strangely enough, I don't remember the 1920x1200 resolution ever being a problem with WoW's UI, but back then it was still being developed and refined.

Ah!

As it turns out, Lotro does allow the rescaling of many UI elements. Quite handy! The only downside is that increasing the size makes the UI just a little less sharp.

Still, a wonderful feature to have. :)

the non scaling UI really makes not sense at all...it's the only reason i stopped playing DDO the first time around, and figured i'd check back a year or so later and it's STILL a problem...i can't play the game in the native 1920x1200 of my monitor because of this issue

the UI is just way too small right now, i can't imagine some of the people playing it in a higher resolution (as i've read they are).
