Allright i rarely post here but sometimes people are so greedy it makes me wanna puke ...
The way i see this game is a place to have fun with friends and try like many aspects of our lives to excel and improve to be better at what we do.
Wich usually is done by teamwork a lot of players are really good in this game and we can learn a lot from them by playing in team. Some players are very good and generous and ACT like they are team oriented explain something or give stuff away help someone get favor so on and so on ...
Some people on the other hand are greedy and try to take advantage of the players in any manners possible, tuesday night very late, someone posted a vorpal battleaxe of maiming for 30 million gold in general chat of necropolis, that was too much i had to react.
This guy posted in general a vorpal battleaxe of maiming for 30 million, i replied that nothing in this game was worth 30 million ,and that people can get vorpal for a tenth of that on auction ...
Then i imagine 2 of his buddies said it was worth it ,so i reminded them that u can get vor for 1.5 to 2 million gold on auction and i asked if maiming was worth 28.5 million gold at that point the guy who i think was a farmer stopped talking but his 2 buddies kept arguing that yeah maiming was worth 28 to 28 .5 million ...
So i log on wednesday and see that vorpal battleaxe of maiming on AH for 20 millions no buyout and 3 days left wich means after AH cut there will 14 million, lol ... already cut the value in half after they told me i was an idiot, some people i tell u .
Maiming is 1 d6 extra damage on weapon with x2 multiplier and its not worth nothing, cause the crit is only 20 so 19 -20 but when u get a 20 u kill 'em if u don't confirm a 20 90% of the time at 14, and ur a tank i strongly suggest to reroll, so who would pay 28.5 million gold for 1 d6 damge 5% of the hits with a weapon 19 being the only time ull get that 1 d6 ...
This is the kind of people we dont need in this game if u want me to pm the names i'll gladly do it i have pictures of the generl chat with the conversation but don't know how to post them here .
So anyway i feel better now already felt better when i saw it in ah and that the guy would settle for half of what he was asking b4 i told him he was nuts, but still to think that will sell for 20 million is ridiculous ...
Have a good day

That is way to funny. I pulled a vorpal battleaxe of maiming on Tuesday night also. I wonder if Tortured (guild leader) was trying to sell my battleaxe. What can we do with him, he gets guildies to drop the guild, causes mass-anger in the pvp pit, and now this... **** you tortured, that was my battleaxe!
edit: said battleaxe is still for sale at price of 30 million gp. Or you can email me at iama@plattfarmer.com and we can work out a sweet deal via palpay. JK!

I have no idea where this comes from but I keep hearing people say stuff like this. First off, just so you don't get the wrong idea, I don't buy plat. LOTS of people do though. Plat is worthless in this game. I keep trying to get this through to people but they just don't seem to understand.
There are LOTS of things I would drop 3 million plat on in a heartbeat. I usually don't have 3 million plat because I'm constantly buying stuff but then again, I don't hoard and save my money like some people do (and again, I don't buy plat). Still, I always have at least 1 million plat on my account. I consider myself to be poor (at least in the plat department). There are TONS of players with 10+ million plat lying around.
Would I have paid 3 mill for the vorpal? Probably not but it's not an outrageous asking price. There are regular vorpals on the AH every day for 2 million plat and that one had maiming. Axes have a x3 multiplier. Pretty nice little toy there...
The real point I'm trying to make is that I can't emphasize enough how wrong the statement I quoted is. Not only are there things in the game worth that much but 3 million plat is an absolute steal for some items...

If I had that much plat I would drop it on a w/p rapier without a second thought!

No offense loki, but maiming is not good on a vorpal. Deals more damage on crit... and if you're a good fighter, you won't miss your confirmation really often.
Now, if it was a +3 hand axe, maybe, vorpal are, IMHO, better with +s on them and not other effect as they help to confirm the crit.

I'm a bit confused. Loki is saying that vorpals regularly hit the 1-2 million plat mark, OP is saying that they're usually around 1-2 million gold.
Now, I'm not entirely clear on how vorpals work. If it activates on crits, then the axe would have to be pretty low tier for a vorpal. Only 1d8, only crits on a 20, no racial or class proficiencies have it, and maiming instead of a + to hit.
On the upside, it's only a one hander, but the only worse one handed weapons are the heavy pick and kama, although the kama is only down there because DDO does not have monks.
If vorpal only activates on 20s and not crits, then at best I'd call it "meh" as far as instruments that go 'snicker-snack' are concerned.
As for things being worth 30 million of insert-currency-here, we all ascribe our own personal values to items, for our own reasons. I'm not paying 30 million silver, let alone platinum for anything I've seen in this game so far. But I'm a penny pinching miser with a cleric who demands constant burnt offerings of scrolls.
My guess is that the person trying to sell the weapon, and likely those who spoke up in favor of the price, just don't have a solid grasp on what the majority of prospective buyers would consider appropriate. It happens in every MMO, and in real life very frequently. Nothing to get worked up over.

wow you actually did post this, at no point did we say it was worth it, i must admit i did comment, i was saying your outcry/insults at the seller were un-needed, had you been polite instead of insulting the person in general chat i doubt any of us would have spoken up.

Oh I don't know Borro, depends on the rolls.
Sometimes It takes forever to get 20's for me, I swear I'm the unluckiest roller around.
So maiming would help me beat it down faster, espescially if 20's aren't dropping.
I'd never pay this for it, though.
.....But I agree I'd rather have more +'s, and I bet I could get $3 mill. for my +4 vorpal Dwarven axe pretty quick.
If I had that much plat I would drop it on a w/p rapier without a second thought!
Yep, I would too!!!

First he didnt say 30 million he said 3 million plat.I said 30 million to make sure people wouldn't get confuse cause i dont know where u guys see vorpal for 10 million.
I had a vorpal khopesh of pure good 1 d6 every hit, a lot better than maiming
for 8 million gold buyout it never sold, posted it 3 times 3 days in a row never sold look at auction right now the buyout on vorpals is rarely higher than 5-6 million and there a couple for 2-3 million buyout, why is that cause everyone and his brother has a vorpal so next time u see a vorpal of pure good, check the buyout and check how long it stays there and let me know.
As for ur comments the only thing u told me that night was quote "unless u have beaten the aboot and preraid elite u dont have full favor change ur bio .
If u had done full favor ud have known that b4 mod 5 the favor cap was 2339
(u prolly dont have 1750 yet ) and i apologize for not having updated my bio right when i logged on after the mod my 4 main characters were at 2339 i will correct it .
Although its kinda funny coming from a guy who has a level 6 retired fighter in his signature forum and a level 2 i dont know what .... Enchanter prolly .
Maybe u should update ur forum signature who cares about ur level 2 deleted and ur level retired maybe u should update that im sure its been more than 5 days ..
Why don't u make a post about how u should build ur next toon like u usually do maybe u will avoid the retires and the deleted in ur forum sig ...
If someone can give me a quick link i have picture of the general forums i know how to email them but not how to post a link here i can put them up if needed.

Hey this is D&D...People have been ripping people off since the dawn of times and it continues everywhere in the world today. That is life and it is role playing also. If someone is stupid enough to pay the price without doing their own research then thats on them not the seller.
I hope our crafty rogues and haggle bard merchants make the most out of our guilds riches. Keeps us decked out strong with gear increasing the Black Abbots fear of the pack when we hunt him down and slaughter him.

Maiming wont help you kill it faster, as it deals extra damage on a crit. Unless you've got improved crit: slashing, then you would get extra damage on rolling a 19 instead of a 20.
Not sure on the 3 mil for your vorpal, but it's definitely better than the one mentioned in the OP. +4 dwarven waraxe versus maiming battleaxe?
