View Full Version : An apology to the server.

My fellow Thelanisians (?). I'm sure many of you are aware of a, let's face it, childish, playground rivalry of sorts between two guilds on the server.

Honestly I am uncertain how it all began, but I know that a number of us Vagabonds have done some of our parts to extend and exacerbate it. We have laid barbs and risen to baitings that were better off left ignored. Once upon we had a very good reputation on this server, not for being the uberist or the most 733t or anything of the sort. It stemmed from being helpful, competent players who offered our assistance up to anyone in need freely and with out rancor. That gave me more pride than any of our raid conquests or other in game accomplishments.

I miss those days. i do not like hearing people not even on our server saying some of the things I have read about us on these forums. I do not like the vitriol and spite that has been prevalent of late. I am pretty certain a number of you feel the same (with the exception of the entertainment aspect of course).

I, personally made an attempt to goof of on other people and that was taken out of context. I am apologizing to them for that. Honestly, I never meant anything more than to get a laugh. I'm sorry that my words hurt you Urich and that it further caused strife among us. I'm sorry that it made you think of me in the way you do and that you think I would take your hard-earned knowledge as opposed to working things out on my own with my guild. (please don't continue the argument. We've both had our say on it and furthering it will change nothing).

Most of all I am sorry to the server, those people I know and those who I have not had the pleasure of meeting. I never intended for things to get to this point and am taking some relatively extreme measures inside my guild in an attempt to quell things. I want to return to the days when we joked with Indago, in a friendly manner, as we knocked out some quest moments before them. Or when we somehow created a rivalry with one of the smallest guilds on the server.

For better or worse, this is not the Thelanis I grew up on anymore. That does not mean I can not act the same as I did before. It does not mean that my personal standards for myself and my guild have changed. I am sorry for letting them get out of control as they have.

To Jaywade:

Ah! *sniff* /wipes a tear ... I didn't know you cared! Let's chase butterflies ... er, if we can find any! ;)

And for you Vagabond boys ... if you don't behave, I'll have to give you another spankin'! :p

And last, to (and for) Shin:
Those of us who know Shin know that he is a generous and caring man. He is also a dang good guild leader. Having been in Thelanis for more than 1 1/2 years, I also have seen the changes coming. I found that I enjoyed pugging more because there are so many people out there from so many new (to me) guilds, and all (ok, most) of them are awesome. IFV is known for helping smaller guilds, running people through raids that don't normally get to do them, and helping people to be the best while enjoying their time in game with good friends. We share the common interest of having a good time (ok, and sometimes loot, I won't lie). It was heartbreaking to think that some of these awesome new (to me) people thought that we were something that we're not.

Shin ... you're awesome! We have an awesome guild, and I am proud to be an officer. And thank you so much for putting up with me! :D

/salute Shinarel.

Hey now, hold on. I'm not asking for anything from anyone. I started a problem and am attempting to remedy it as it is not only out of hand, but well pointless as well.

I screwed up and let my guild continue to do so. That is not good leadership.

I am apologizing to them for that.

Apology accepted. I've been reading this for a while and reaching for something to apologize for so as to thoroughly bury the hatchet but I can't really find much. I guess it was bad form to let things drag out on the forums so I can apologize for that on my own part but I don't tell my peeps what to post so I can't really apologize for what they've posted.

The only problem is I stand by everything I've said. It's all true and I see no need to apologize for it. I think the gravity of what I've said has gotten a little blown out of proportion. I am annoyed that I was flamed for working so hard on Risia and then my work was used by those who flamed me. That's about it. It's not really that big of deal. This raid is a beast and I really don't feel like the preraid matters. We all sped to the raid, we're all in, and it's kicking all our butts lol.

We're competitive as you are. We can take the barbs as well as give them. It lights a fire under our rears and it hopefully does the same for you. We can trash talk and keep it all in good fun. Hopefully you can do the same. Honestly, it's been a long time since someone stepped up and gave Legion a run and I'm thankful someone finally has.

Loki. look at my unedited original post that flamed you" again. Please. Now I know you do not me so I'm asking for a bit of understanding here. I only ever intended it as a goof on you. I put a :P behind it in an attempt to do that and it didn't work.

I asked you not to bring up our difference on if we borrowed your information you worked on as we have discussed it otherwise. What ever you were told was probably told to you in an attempt to continue this idiocy. You don't believe me and that's fine with me.

As to the last part. Really we are not all that competitive as a guild. You throwing down the gauntlet at us did push that a bit more to the front of our minds, but the whole time it felt to me like other people outside of both of our guilds trying to push us more towards it. I was originally going to take it easy on this raid and let Indago get the server first props before. I'm having fun though so who knows what is going to happen.

A key element of good leadership is taking responsibility and having the humility to offer a heart felt apology no matter where the fault lies.

Again, what happens to us in life is not as important as how we deal with it.

That's why we generally ignore everything you say and listen to your parrot instead.

His bones may be hollow, and he may have no hands, but Dizzy is the best guild leader I've had in my 8 or 9 years of playing MMOs.

I am damned proud of my server and of my guild. If i were anywhere else, i would have quit for sure by now. These guys are a great group and only a great leader can put together such a mixed and mingled group like us and keep things together. I strongly believe that Shin is not the only one at fault and hope that all parties involved can come to a stalemate that makes them both feel satisfied with the result.

I have been on this server since the beginning and led a guild myself for a short while. Its not easy and especially considering the size of the guild he runs, shin does an incredible job. /Cheers to him, and /Cheers to our Continued or re-established good standing with all thelanis guilds!:)

You're right. I don't know you and don't have a lot of experience with you on the boards. When you posted that I definately did not take it as a goof. I know IFV's rep and even your sig shows how proud you guys are that you were the first on your server to beat every raid. I had been digging at IFV for a little bit to spur a little competition and when you posted that on the Risia board it definately seemed like an attempt to preemptively discredit us for beating the raid first (if we indeed did so...which we ended up doing).

Now if it was a goof, fine. I apologize for getting so bent about it. That said, why don't you go take a look at the VERY FIRST response to our Abbot kill announcement. ;)

To IFV...

ty for the apology to some of my guildmates...

To me, the arguement took me by surprise. Considering the way you guys post, the way you hang and your general coolness, I never saw how it started nor understand how it went on.

While there are many good guilds out there with awesome players, Legion has considered you from the start to be our sternest competition and man, the way you guys were pushing the Abbot... we were getting worried lol.. yep.. we beat you.. but you spurred us.

If anyone is going to beat it next it will be you guys.. you have the organization, the tight team spirit and the drive to push harder than almos anyone I know... and I look forward to working with you in a party or against you in a guild vs guild run...

...you guys rock...

If Xoriat had to be merged... at least we went to a place where a great guild lives...

Having the first raid kill on the server is a great feat. Not everything though. Sometimes the harder and longer you go without that win actually in some strange way makes it so much more exciting in the end. Lord knows in the beginning back in Velah days when our guild was just lifting off It felt like we went 0 for 1,000 on slaying her. But that day finally came... Killing her sent chills up and down my spine... Bringing a guild together, forming friendships and then taking it to the level of accomplishing your goals is tremendous.

I respect any guild who is organized , made up of good people and trying hard to bring the members to a common goal of crushing a raid or quest. It is not easy. To all guilds out there who are structured in this way .... I wish you all luck on completing your goals and to all guild leaders out there who work hard to make it happen... I cheers you.

Hey Rust Puppy, you might want to congratulate Legion in their thread buddy.

Really I think it got blown out by players in other guilds after I tried to give a hard time to the people running on Risia. If you go back and look many things were thrown into both Loki's and my mouths by people, some of whom are not even on the server. I think that is what spurred us on in the negative way as opposed to just having fun with it. Main part of the reason I think I spent most the day doing other things.

i like butterflies...

to all, yes the competition was heated. it lead to interesting reading.

In all honesty IFV you made this raid fun. The desire to win, to compete against someone that has skills similar to our structure in Legion makes the race for the raid as fun as the raid can be.

Ya the content was awesome. the raid was fun but without you guys spurring us to play better we would not have been in a urgency to beat it.

again thank you for the rivalry it made this game the best it can possibly be

as much as i spread the fire. I have to honestly say i'm glad the race was against you guys! It made the transfer to this server so worth the money,

You have to love a man who makes half an attempt to burry the hatchet, then makes a nice treasure map to go find it again. :p

Still, he did say "I apologize" which I have to say is more than I ever expected to see.
