See, I am always torn on this one. I am a classic "dress up" person for Halloween but the irony is that now that I'm a teacher, many times it's frowned upon, although that day all your students dress up! LOL. So this year I'm thinking about dressing up for party day, but I don't know what to dress up as.

It has to be something versatile enough to withstand a full day of teaching though and not itchy or too heavy. The school that I teach at now is awesome and I don't think it would be outside the realm of acceptability to dress up. Plus I am the music teacher, and everyone knows I'm crazy anyway, so there you go.

I already know students have said they will be.... A Goth fairy... and Sponge Bob. That's about it so far.... LOL.

Haven't thought much about it. . . I'll probably just sit at home on Halloween. But if I have to dress up, like if I'm told I need to give out candy or whatever. . . I dunno. Something in the theme of black and white? I really need to think about it, I suppose.

Bride of Frankenstein.

I've done more original costumes (went as a Freudian Slip one year, bag of red hots one year, and various others), but I wanted something warm I could throw an overcoat on top of and people would still 'get it'.

It's COLD here at Halloween. Usually hovering just above/below freezing and rainy/sleety to boot.

Catholic school girl gone bad (although isn't that all of them?)
It's the same costume I wore last year in New Orleans..
Only this year I have a baby to carry around to complete the outfit.

heh, catholic girls. (http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Catholic-Girls-lyrics-Frank-Zappa/B06847BCB7713DC048256972000DD653)

If I had time to dress up I'd totally get a blue button shirt, some brown slacks, lop of my left hand at the wrist & attach a chainsaw, & find a BOOMSTICK! ... but alas, I'm 95% positive I'm gonna have to close the retail store I work at.

And for you, Erdster... Being that you're a music teacher I think your costume should have something to do with music & since you're a lady that gives you the option to dress as one of the most frightening Horrors (or perhaps the same word spelt with a "Wh") known to man... Courtney Love!!!!!

So what did the costume look like - the Freudian Slip one? I'm curious - pictures would help :)

I think it definitely should be music related - but maybe a character from a musical - maybe like one of the princesses from a fairy tale? Take into account what age level your students are - maybe a musical character you are covering in your classes??

Just some suggestions,
Jules

I think, if the budget allows, Erda should dress up as Mozart, right down to the wig. If budget is tight, dress up as a greek muse, like.. um.. Euterpe. (sp?) Toga, laurell wreath and a flute. Voila!
I have a feeling Jr will be going for Spiderman as his first Halloween costume... although he has his own language, and would call it Pizer man.
Erda Rocks.

Jules

It consisted of a slip (the one that wears like a mini-dress, not the one like a skirt) with little nametags stuck onto it (all over) with sayings on them that could be counted as freudian slips (not all can I print here - filter). Use your imagination. :D

Teenagers hate coming to our door and getting me - cause I won't give out candy unless you're in costume. I mean you can say you're a serial killer "They look like everyone else", but you gotta say you're something - or no candy from me.

I am currently searching through the game "dead rising" and trying to find a suitable outfit. Then I will be taking my louiville slugger some fake blood splatter and my old fashioned camera and call myself Frank West, reporter/zombie slayer extraordinaire.

No dressing up for me. A costume would bite too heavily into my ramen budget.

I suppose I could grow a beard, wear a bathrobe, and say I'm Jesus. But I don't think that will go over too well with the Mormons.

I some how have gotten a nickname among my friends of the O.G. Ninja. So I will be wearing a ninja type black outfit. I will have huge (fake) bling necklaces and rings, and a purple fedora with a white feather. I will also be holding "the magic stick" which is a cheap $5 can topped with a crystal with liquid and gold flakes in it, think of a shake christmas globe.

I'm gonna go as a dev.The lights will be totally off. When the kids get past my gate, (no easy feat) I'm gonna show 'em a massive bag full of candy. Then I'll give them a ticket and tell them to wait until their number is called. Hopefully they will start beating on each other until only a few survive. To those few survivors I will allow access to the candy giver and then only, as I dump cold water on them, egg them in the face, and spout shaving cream along their 20 dollar costumes. Only then will access be granted. As they leave bags laden with sugar filled confectioneries, besmirched with the gore that all true warriors must wear, I will pour a glow stick all over my massive pumpkin head and flick the electric fence.
