Apparently there is a bug with the new release. The download can come corrupted which in turn corrupts your entire ddo client. According to the DDO Online support the only way to fix is to re-install DDO. BIG BUMMER!!

Little more testing guess wouldnt have hurt. I am sure they will fix it maybe..

A victom of this horid bug!

I had the same exact issue.

I had to re-install the ENTIRE THING -- took about 8 hours because of the sluggish ddo server speed.

As I posted in my tech support thread here, just a few basic diagnostic functions on the update launcher could save 100s of subscribers a headache in the future. Most modern MMOs provide diagnostic functions of one sort or another.

Repair did not fix it.

A repair function that actually works would be cool. A 1kb file that is screwed up should not destroy a 7 gigabyte install that has been working for 17 months. There should be some kind of rollback point or other diagnostic function.

If they want to retain subscribers, they should really take note of this issue. It will happen in the future as updates aren't going to end. There will always be buggy releases, but this goes beyond that. We're talking about the core update mechanic being inadequate.

It's not fair to ask paying subscribers to tie up their computers for half a day over clumsy programming.
