I thought it would be nice to have a thread where we could share pictures that are not DDO-related of fun and interesting things we have going on in real life.
Please make all photos conform to the guidelines of this forum and refrain from flaming other's photos.
In the interest of getting us started, I've included a link to a photo of my aircraft and crew, taken by one of the crewmembers of another of our aircraft. The photo was taken at the airshow this summer and has been selected for the U.S. Army calendar for 2008. When you see the photo, you'll understand why.

I dabble in photography and digital art (photomanipulations). A few examples of my work:

Holiday Memories (http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/3669/holidaymemoriesbyenpsyalp5.jpg)
Love your work - especially these two.
I'll spare you my job, because that's pretty boring, so here's what I do to relieve the boredom.
Sometimes I 'paint' my friends (read free hand/photo manip combos):
Deona (http://affordablesin.deviantart.com/art/Deona-40645622), Mike (http://affordablesin.deviantart.com/art/The-Tarot-of-Mike-40228622), and Jenny (http://affordablesin.deviantart.com/art/Jenny-39373007)
I dabble in photography, and hopefully one day I'll actually be able to get back in to school for this.

I've also been known to mess around with jewelry from time to time.

Some very cool pics/vids y'all have. I especially like a lot of the artwork. Some very talented people out there for certain.
I should have some more pics to add soon as I'll be gone all of next week. Heading into the mountains to do a little caving. That should get some interesting shots to share with everyone. Nothing like worming your way through a tiny little passage to end up as a great shot as you ooze your way out of the exit into the next chamber.
Good hunting till then!

Cool photos Generals. Looks like you and I do a lot of the same stuff.
When I'm not pretending to run around in caves and wooded areas, I'm actually out doing that in real life.
Here's the photo I promised everyone.
This is me crawling out of a formation known as "The Shotgun". We had just left a passage called "Dave's Lost Sea" and the room where the photo is taken from is called "The No-Name Room". We're about 400 feet below the surface at this point and the flash about blinded me as it was considerably brighter than anything our headlamps had lit up for the last six hours.
Enjoy!

Awesome shot - how long is that tiny little passage anyway?
PaintHorseCowboy
10-08-2007, 11:07 PM
That particular crawl is pretty short. Only about 9 feet long.
Some of the other crawls like Hellhole and Snakepit are in excess of 20 yards. It just depends on where you are and where you're going. The longest one we did on that run through was actually a spider crawl that ran about 160 yards. Spidering is sort of being bent over at the waist with your hands on the ground or side wall and sort of shuffling along like the side step you had to do for your sports team drills. It results in you moving sideways through the cave and takes the pressure off your back and is considerably faster than hand and knee crawling.
Fun time if you are not clausterphobic and don't mind being dirty, wet, and cool because all the prepared cave tours most people take are on nice, flat, prepared walkways which aren't typically under water. And most caves in the US are between 50 and 60 degrees year around. Might seem cool, but when you start having to spider, hand and knee crawl, or belly crawl, you'll warm up real fast.
We went to Arizona for vacation when I was 8 - stopped by Carlsbad on the way there and I've been interested ever since.
That sounds like so much fun - caves are amazing. I can't lay claim to any kind of 'extreme spelunking' like that but given the opportunity and the means...
In fact, the only non-prepared 'cave' I've been in is an abandoned copper mine in Dahlonega. I tried my damnedest to find a picture of it online, but apparently I never scanned one. I was hoping I had one to help describe how huge this place is. Oh well, good excuse to go back up there one day. :D
Speaking of caves - did you ever watch the Planet Earth Caves episode? Highly recommend checking that out, and any of the others for that matter.

Do you SCUBA? If you like spelunking (as I do), you'd love exploring the underwater caves of Florida. I've probably dove most of Florida's springs, and I'm here to tell ya it's an experience that's hard to match. Plus the girls look good in rubber hehe
As soon as I get back I'll send some pic's. Good stuff.

Sounds great Generals, I can't wait to see the pictures.
Unfortunately I do not SCUBA. I'm also a pilot (which is my primary job) and we have restrictions about SCUBA and flying as it tends to amplify the chance you'll have any disbarisms with the greater change in atmospheric pressures that can be accomplished going from depth to altitude. One of these days I'll get qualified for diving and then be able to do that when I take leave.
Have a great trip amigo!

"Don't Jump Hardly". :D Oh, that's awesome. I love how muddled language and meaning can get in the translations.
Great pics! I'll have to dig up some of the ones I took last year in Chile. Best vacation of my life thus far.

Nice pictures Sokar. Is the top one Yushan (Jade Mt.)? I can't think where else in Taiwan there's ever snow. The sign is classic as well. You wouldn't happen to have a picture with the Chinese in it? I am curious what it actually says.

I'm not sure what mountain it is; the photo was shot while I was on a train ride to Hualien, right around the Tairoko National Park.
And unfortunately, I did not get a full picture of the sign. I'll have to e-mail a couple friends who were with me at the time and see if they did.

Busiest train station in Tokyo (notice the TV screens?)
Reminds me of the year I spent in Japan working for a Japanese Company. Hanzomon Station, Imperial Palace, way to busy for my tastes ;)
Ikebukuro Market was more my style, a little laid back. I did live / work out in Chiba Prefec. Knowing I only had a year I was in Tokyo or riding the Shinkansen to some remote location on the weekends. Ueno was my big interchange station I could almost get anywhere from there :D Thank for the pics Lost!

That was my first Dragonraid completion. Jan 2007, I think! Won the Ring of the Silver Concord from Emmy. I think she's never forgave me of that!
Ironic thing is, I am still wearing that ring, even though I have better and should replace it with a +6 CHA ring.

Yes it is hard to beat the beauty of those parts, hiking through that country settles a soul for sure. Glad to have a camera for it - I just press the button, the almighty makes the scenery :)
There's lots more, I can dig some out if you want.

I was just talking to a friend of mine about Wasatch National Forest last weekend. She was up that ways camping. She E-mailed me a few pics last Monday. Wonderful area. I have yet to hike anywhere in Utah. Looking forward to taking a weekend to go up in around Zion. I here nothing but 5-Stars about Zion.

Actually the Mt. Baldy I was referring to is in the Angeles Nat'l Forest. Not a huge draw for tourists, but a great place for people that love to hike, do nature walks, and actually... y'know, clear your own campsite, rather than pay for a lot space.
