Ok, I'm not going to profess this as some great strategy. But it's definitely funny. And at the same time has some beneficial abilities.

This is heavily gear related.

Take your standard "Riott Tank" or high Intimidate build.

It's taken a while but I finally got the gear combo I've been looking for.
But here's the essential pieces.
=============================================

+5 Mithral Tower Shield of Bashing or Ward of Undead Shield -

With Improved Shield Mastery (DR24) and Improved Shield bash.

Bramble Casters - Greater Spearblock (dr 10/slashing or bludgeon), ThornGuard (1d8 damage to attackers)

+4 Adamantine Lightning Guard Full Plate - 1d8 Lightning to Attackers. DR3
Or
Black Dragon Armor - 3D8 damage to undead Attackers.

Lion headed Belt - +4 Strength, +4 Con, Immune to Fear, Roar (Causing melee attackers to resist or be Shaken and take damage)

Sickle of Fire Shield 3/day

Cloak of Ice - Chill Shield 3/day

Jungle Cloak - Regen 5Hp per tick, up to 100 HP.
Human Recovery 2, makes this 6 HP per tick instead of 5.
================================================== ==

Basically, I've lowered my AC a bit to around 47-52.
I want mobs to hit me, just not super fast.

Anything that does hit me, has to go through DR 27, Or DR 34 if it's Peirce based.

And they take 2d8 +4 Damage in return. (4D8+4 Vs. Undead)
PLUS they become shaken! Thereby reducing their abilities more.

Add in Both Shield spells and this boosts that by 2d6 +10. Fire and Cold based.

Total Porcupine Damage = 2D8 + 2D6 + 14 = Avg. 30 Damage per Hit.
Or Vs. Undead = 4D8 + 2D6 +14 = Avg. 39 Damage per hit.
================================================== ==

With the Jungle cloak active the small damage which does get through DR if any is healed easily over time.

Good news is that Touch attacks from etherial mobs, still have to deal with your DR while shield blocking.
So they take the damage from hitting you, but their damage has to go through your DR while blocking.

Naturally this is a melee fighting style.
So not an every adventure sort of thing.

It's different, and it's pretty funny to say the least.

Enjoy.

Yea there fun, I got all those on my barbarian, with much lower AC.. Helps add a fair bit to my DPS when im attacking. Or good for turtling and keeping agro. Bit better DR on barb too, 35 boosted with no shield mastery.

Also funny for PvP when noobs try to kill me, I just block and they kill themself.
Other cool thing about the lionheaded belt is it does 1d8 sonic dmg on its roar too.

Demon Bracers are one of the best on-hit effect type item tho. Still need to get those.

get a rapier, sci, or kurki and just swing every once in a while to get the +15 HPs :P

When you got 30+ DR, the one time you get hit while trying to get that crit in loses you more then the possible 15 youd get back.

Bodyfeeder works semi good for soloing if you use a max crit range wep, tho overall more DPS often results in less damage taken as eventually you roll low and lose the hp, or take magic dmg.

Not that a pure intimitank build would really have feats for it but in regards to bodyfeeder, it would be useful to have cleave (possibly great cleave too) and only stop turtling to drop C/GC and hope for a crit. With all the mobs around you there's a much better chance you can get a crit in.

Flip the idea, get a lifeshield ranged returning weapon. That gives you 15 hp every time your hit, rather than every time you hit someone.

You hit more often then you get hit with that much AC. ;) And a melee weapons deals much more damage.

Ya, but someone said that they didn't want to attack while in blocking mode, since it opens you up to taking more damage. So as an alternative, keep blocking and just hold the returner.

Improved Shield Bash for the win....
Allows you to keep DR, and AC while bashing.

In the new quests, Not only is the Undead Ward Shield Flaming & Undead Bane, but it's GHOST TOUCH TOO!!!

And even though touch AC's bypass armor, the mobs still take the Lightning Guard damage.

So, Lightning Guard, Roaring, Thorn damage, and Fire shield all hit them back.

It's pretty funny.

On another note, having the Seal of Earth allows one to cast a level 12 stoneskin as well... Making this build self buffable with Stoneskin providing another 10/Adamantine to DR.

Added a Cloak of Ice.... (ice version of fire shield)
And Black dragon Armor for Undead. (3D8)

Updated the top too.

This is very silly/ridiculous.... But oh well, it's funny to watch.

Doesn't the Jungle Cloak regen 3 hp every 3 seconds?

Riot

Jungle cloak is 5 Hp per 6 seconds. (6hp with HR2)
Pouch of Jerky is 2 HP per 6 seconds.

Now all we have to do is haste the monsters so they kill themselves faster.

This type of blocking + counter-damage, along with cleave/great cleave/whirlwind and intimidate, is both fun and deadly. I'll usually toss in specialty weapons (the aforementioned bodyfeeder, vorp/banisher/smiter/disruptor/cursespewer/shattermantle) - they all take effect on a cleave.

So while turtling, you get multiple speedy AoE attacks that you can time between hits... all at your highest attack bonus. And once in a blue moon, you land a power effect on 5+ mobs and get to go OOOOOOOH YEAHHHHH!

I do this on my intimitank rogue occasionally.

+4 acid guard mith bp
chord of reprisals
fire shield clicky
lifeshield returning hammer
and improved shield bash with a +5 adamantine shield of bashing (saving shield pieces still to get talon)

Its a lot of fun when going back to run super low level stuff for favor and watching the kobolds disintegrate if they ever get a piece of you.

Also fun in places like vol where i'm generally not swinging since it's a waste of my time, just standing in an acid fog intimidating and dealing counter damage.

Imagine a whole group of porcupines forming a hedgehog and rolling through a quest while the enemies killed themselves on their shields :)

This looks like a lot of fun to try out. Thanks for posting that.
