View Full Version : 32pt Rebuild of My Original DEX TWF Rogue

I am posting my current set-up now that I have been capped for about 3-4 weeks. I may change things around when cap is raised.
Some barbarians and a select few fighters can out kill me, but I can give any melee class a good run for thier money.
Skills did get a bit messy at level 14 because I didn't realize how cross-class while multi-class worked, but it'll all be fixed at 15.

32pt - Chaotic Good - Elf – Rogue 12 / Fighter 2

I did eat a +1 STR, CHA, WIS at 1, but only because I had them laying around they slightly influence my starting stats(pushed wis/cha to odd numbers). The +2 INT tome, I was able to eat at lvl 1, infulenced my build much more... 14 starting INT. Originally I was tring to squeeze in Spring attack into a rogue dex TWF build but found it was just too feat intensive at this point. I may juggle things around once level cap is raised.

Armor Class unbuffed +5 bracer = 27 Doesn't matter much, but can't get any better than robes with this dex while TWF.

I mostly run this guy with a +2 Cursespewing Rapier of Puncturing / +2 Wounding Shortsword of Puncturing. With 7 attacks around with 95% hit rate, things die quickly. I swap to a smiter, banisher, or disruptor as needed. And for Red Named I use a +2 Holy Burst Rapier(or other element if holy immune) in mainhand and +4 Shocking Burst Shortsword of Righteousness in off-hand, while swapping in/out destruction.

From having a TWF, dex-based, 28pt rogue over a year ago that worked back then, but failed miserably now..... I am very happy with this build.

how much does the precision help? i assume you took it because of low str

do you use it a lot? or, do you think you might swap it out?

I've actually use it a lot. Very few times do I actually turn it off. Since I'm working with mostly stat damaging, elemental damage, and weapon effects to get my kills the lowered aggro is great without lowering my effectiveness(kill count). Slimes are about the only thing I turn it off for.

I like it.

When I was running Brenna as a Precision build, I had wounders but nothing better, and swapped out when they changed how DR worked against stat damagers. Plus, not enough feats for what I wanted (I cast a lot, and liked the SF: UMD better).

I've heard rumors that puncturing still works through DR, just needs the crit...what has been your experience?

Minor typo in the attack bonus calc (says str, but maybe I'm reading it wrong...the numbers look like they're for dex).

What does your sneak DPS look like against red names? What was another motivator of mine to move away from Precision. If you still pull agro through Precision, you might want to consider of Deception on a weapon...pretty cheap to get, and with the number of hits you'll get per cycle it might be worth trying, since it'll fire often. Just a thought; I swear by Deception these days.

Just an afterthought: DD looks just a tiny bit low (to me), but I'm thinking of the 61 dd in Aurum Lair trap; do you ever not disarm on the first go? You have pretty much the same trapsmith stats I do, so that's easily enough rectified, if you want to.

Do you do a fair amount of wand use? I love shield for the extra AC while twf'ing, and when things hit to accurately for comfort, I find stoneskin/blur/displacement scrolls are well worth it.

A 12 Wisdom only gives you a +1mod, Not +4.

Are you counting your Tools in that DD Modifier? If so thats dangerously low.

Might wantt o clarify on the build that your Taking Fighter at L2 and L14 Thats pretty important and not real obvious.

That's not a rumor -- my rogue gets lots of con damage through elemental DR via crits on his pair of puncturers :D

Correct, only the -1 Per hit weapons need to Bypass DR...

Very nice. I'm debating spending a lot of cash on puncturing weapons, though...I figure they just missed it when they made the change to DR.

I am building a tune that will end up with w/p weapons. I like the dex based format and was wondering if anyone had a twf build that was for w/p weapons?

GTWF + Precision pretty much cries out for duel w/p's, if you can get 'em.

Barbs can really do some wicked stuff with w/p but I think this is also a great way to go for rogues who feel that only trapsmithing isn't productive enough.

Precision = +20% to-hit = a ton more weapon effects (not good if you looking for big raw dps, but awsome if going weapons effects route)
