Need some input on my Rogue build. Damage dealer + Trap disabler. Will this progression work ? Build assumes no tomes as I still need to find them :/

Doesn't look too bad, but might I make a reccomendation?

Drop Dex to starting 16, and raise Con up with those points. 104 hp before items/feats is quite low. Also, you can be quite the trap disabler with just a 14 INT, so thats something else you might consider doing to increase your HP ;)

Other than that, not bad.

PS..You might consider taking Acid Lore instead of Fire lore. Melfs Acid arrow is annoying =)

Well as far as the stats go unfortunately Im already at lvl 4 so unless I started over...I cant really change that. I can however chage the fire lore to acid lore.

Thanks for the input

Then I recommend displacement scroll/wand, and fearsome armor. That'll help you out with your low hp.

I don't mean to piggy back this guy's thread, so i'll just hijack it instead of creating another thread with the same questions. Similar situation never played a rogue before thought drow would be good choice.

drow rogue

str 14
dex 18
con 12
int 16
wis 8
cha 10

Id be a finesse rogue, maybe using some bows possibly twf so i might splash 2 lvs ranger. i'd have the norm skills with umd cause we'll who doesnt love a rogue who can raise dead so i might take SF: UMD as a feat.

The real question is will i still be a viable rogue if i do the 2 lv ranger splash, like what exactly would i get going lv 13 and 14 rogue vs. the 2 lv ranger dip?

12 Rogue / 2 Ranger gives you:
6d6 Sneak Attack
Improved Evasion
Improved Uncanny Dodge
Bow Strength
Rapid Shot
Two-Weapon Fighting
Flawless use of Cure Serious Wands

As opposed to
14 Rogue
Improved Evasion
Improved Uncanny Dodge
7d6 sneak attack
Crippling Strike

I do, however, believe that if you take Ranger 2 before you qualify for Improved Two-Weapon Fighting at BAB6, you can count the "virtual" feat gained from Ranger as a prereq. I'd have to double check on that though. So, if it works like that, 12/2 isn't too bad.

Yes, I've done this myself on my rogue/ranger. You still need the dex requirement of course.

Awesome.

Also, Does access to the "virtual" feat require light armor like it is supposed to, or can you wear heavy armor?

Like Roguewiz said I would bump up your con a bit but I would also have at least a 12 wisdom. A low will save is a very bad thing and rogues need all the help that they can get.

Ok i spent a while thinking this out in anatomy in college... um yeah I took notes don't worry bout that. This is pretty much bare bones no gear, and as I have said its my first rogue and im new to the new enhancement system. So I decided to leave it blank to figure it out on my own, or mayhaps someone with more experience tell me what I might take.

Here's the plan rogue/ranger decent at dpsing with light weapons and bows, and getting in those sneak attacks and hitting where it hurts. I'll be decent at traps and locks but that all depends on enhancements and gear i might find or buy. TWF or sword and board when ever appropriate. Combat expertise for when it get's hairy. I plan on having the gear for having a fairly decent self buffed ac and having 34 dex if i get a 2 tome and +6 dex item at lv 14. And i put SF: UMD cause i'd like to attempt to use raise dead scrolls at higher lvs, just for added versatility.

Also to help with the enhancements I might be going to go down the drow melee stuff for extra dmg and hit to rapiers/shortswords.

I'll appreciate the input i've always wanted to make a rogue, it just seemed confusing so i made other toons.

oh and if it helps any i have chaos garde and mith chain shirt+5 stashed for later lvs...not much but i thought i'd list it.

Looks fine for the most part. You might consider bumping wisdom up to 10, but as a drow getting your spot high enough shouldn't be a problem and your will save won't be great anyway.

The only major suggestion I have is drop combat expertise. As a twf rogue, your AC is never going to be good enough to help very much, and lowering your to-hit means taking away from what you do well. Running a twf rogue is about learning to manage aggro, not AC. I'm a big believer in diplomacy myself, some people like bluff/improved feint, and others go for jumping and tumbling if they get aggro. I don't see your enhancements there, but you'll definitely want to max subtle backstabber. Instead of combat expertise, you've got a few options. Depending on what you do with your enhancements, something like nimble fingers, SF: search or disable device might help with your skills. Toughness for more hit points is always helpful. Power critical could also be a good choice.

I've got a very similar build capped, and he's a lot of fun in the right group. Good luck.

With Rogue Subtle Backstabber III, aggro shouldn't be too much of a problem. I rarely pull aggro with it, unless I engage a target before the tank does, in which case...I deserve it.

I took balance cause i don't liked getting knocked down and hit, and tumble .. well i like to jump from stupidly high places and land on my feet and laugh as others try and die. UMD for rr stuff and hopefully raise dead scrolls later on.
As far as enhancements go im kinda clueless being my first rogue. I just kinda take em as i go along, I should probably research where to stuff the points.

I'm liking the build so far, cause of ranger i have a 29 ac +3 mith chain shirt and +4 rr elf hvy shd. So i've died less than other rogues i've grouped with who are the same lv. I've healed more than clerics at times with wands so thats handy. Bow Str & Rapid Shot are a nice mix for a rogue.

As for the drop ce suggestion, i've thought the same thing and Nimble fingers was the choice i was thinking of too. As far as Diplomacy and Bluff I really dont know how those skills are used, so ive never taken em. But if its crucial i can start taking the points.

Ok thanx for the suggestions and Im sorry BMW for piggy backing your thread.

I don't really use bluff, but I believe it's single-target and if successful allows you to make sneak attacks, Diplomacy is aoe and shifts aggro off of you to nearby party members. It's instant and I think has a 6-second cooldown. Diplomacy is useless if you solo, since there's no one else to get the aggro, and you don't want to shift the aggro to the wizard in your group, but seems more useful than bluff to me. I've never used improved feint. I think that makes bluff instant instead of taking an action, but I'm not sure what else it does.

I found SF: DD more useful than nimble fingers. You can't critically fail a lock, so you can always try as many times as necessary. Plus your dex mod will be higher than your int mod. I don't have any feats or enhancements for locks and I think a +10 OL item, and at 14 I can still open the Chains of Flame and Twilight Forge locks, which I believe are the highest in the game. Might take a few tries, but people will wait for loot.
