well i thought id make pally with duel weild capabilities. but i wanted it to be kopeshes. i meant for it to be more pally than ranger but guess i wanted those favored enemies enhancements a bit more. saves are nice buffed and unbuffed but not so sure about the str and dex. think i may hav made one or the other too low. he is mostly ment to tank though. so tell me wat u think.

STR is way way way too low to effectively dual wield khopeshs. HP/AC are also too low to really tank. If you're going to build an offensive DPS character, don't make CHA your highest stat. :)

****.

11/3 , not 10/4
.. GTWF, 30 point resist, imprv precise shot, etc.
Str 17 or 18.
Never take energy resist boost. Don't need to max sprint boost, 1 or 2 ranks is plenty.

Too much focus on saves and ac, and too little on any actual tanking ability, IE getting the agro and killing things.

Definately up your strength score to at least 16. (I'm assuming that this is a 28 pt build.) 18 STR might be a bit much to aim for if you decide to dip paladin levels. (Though on the other hand fighter levels...)

As of Mod 5 any human fighter type will be a fool if they don't take Human Versatility version 3.0. This plus the human bonus feat will allow you to get the most out of your kopesh. (+5 to hit or damage up to 6x per day...) Additionally:
- If you invest points into UMD It will allow you to hit at least 15 UMD before any additional buffs or items.
- You'll also be able to push out a +5 to hit when you need it
- or add a +5 to your saves.

Now assuming that the rules don't change with the "Additional Action Boost" enhancement you'll want to max out one of your class chains so it will add an extra use to both clickies.

* Your Charisma is way too high... I know it helps with saves, but you need those points elsewhere. Drop it to 12, boost Strength to 16, and Wisdom to 14.
* Don't bother taking Dex to 18 or boosting your Charisma at all. Put all the stat points you buy (at L4, L8, etc.) into Strength, take a Human Adaptability in Strength. Only boost Dexterity to 16 via Ranger Dex and find some nice Mithral Fullplate - when you find a nice +6 Dex item, go with a Mithral Chain Shirt. You can also go with a +4 Dex item and use a Mithral Breastplate - it's the same effective AC as the Mith Chain Shirt once full Dex bonus is factored in, and both allow the use of Evasion.
* Ignore the comment above about Resistance Boost. It's a lifesaver. ;) I don't make a Ranger character without it. (This enhancement is a personal preference, obviously. :) )
* Keep in mind that dual-wielding Khopeshes is going to have an automatic -4 attack penalty to both weapons, and you'll never get it any higher. You're better off with the Khopesh/Kukri route - you're only looking at -2 to both weapons at that point.
* I agree with the HV comment - in fact, I'd go so far as to say *any* Human character post-Mod 5 should have it.
* Ignore the Paladin Boosts since it's your splash class, and focus on the passive Aura enhancements instead. The benefit is greater for the whole group, and it's one less thing to click on during combat. Besides which - the Attack Boost won't be as good as the HV Attack Boost anyway, in the long run.
* Also I wouldn't worry about the 10/4 vs. 11/3 split. Unless you're planning to power your way to level 14, they'll probably have raised the levelcap before you get there, meaning you can go 12/4 or 13/3 or whatever you want. Personally I never build a character to the current levelcap, but that's my preference.

Good luck!

I'd also have to recommend going 11/3 instead of 10/4...
(sorrry Olaff)

There are just too many bright and shiny things available at level 11 for a ranger to not get them as soon as possible.

No need to apologize! I'm a rarity in that I don't build to maximize at the current levelcap. I build to maximize at level 20. ;)

Never take energy resist boost. [/QUOTE]

Actualy, I take 1 rank of Resist Energy on all my ranger characters. It stacks with other kinds of resistance as do the other resist enhancments so it is actualy incredibly helpful, especialy at lower levels, and the cost is marginal. Rangers really don't have many good enhancement options IMHO, but one rank of the energy boost is a bargin.

I guess my TWF dual-khopesh build is worthless then, as I started with a 14 str, have lower HPs, and started with cha as my highest stat.

Come see me singlehandedly take down either the dragon or giant in each room on every Tor run. Then you can voice your opinion again.
